  1. Do NOT EVER, EVER cut a cats claws!!!!!! Unlike a dogs/humans nails or a horse's hooves- which is dead tissue, cats claws have a blood supply! It is NOT dead tissue. It's more like a snake or a lizards skin. Where the old tissue will shed when the new tissue is ready underneath. That is why they claw at stuff, to shed the old sheath of their claws. My point being, IT'S HURTS LIKE F@#K WHEN YOU CLIP THEIR CLAWS!!!! STOP DOING IT IF YOU LOVE YOUR CAT!!!!!

  2. "I'm gonna go and adopt this cat on a whim!" Please don't do this. Please pick up a cat book first! Read about cat behavior. UNDERSTAND the animal you're wanting to adopt BEFORE you get the pet! Get the supplies the cat needs before you go to the shelter. Have the vet ready so that you can take the cat to the vet after you get them from the shelter and have any fleas and ticks removed, as well as a medical exam. Especially if you already have other pets at home and don't want them to get sick off of any fleas and ticks. Not to mention protecting any children you might have at home.

  3. He’s a typical cat. He loves you and he’s loyal to you, but he has moods where he wants alone time and then other times when he wants attention and to give and receive affection.

  4. I don't even understand when people said I'm cat or dog person?? I'm an animal person I don't care what or how it looks like, I just love animals. I can said I'm not a people person!

  5. My cat Tigger does NOT like to be held or sit in my lap. He will sleep next to my head so he's not totally antisocial .. I suppose at 16 he is just a grumpy old man.

  6. I love dogs and cats equally. But I will say this…cats are much better judges of character, especially when it comes to men. My dogs have all been so friendly that they'd approach anyone to show their love and trust. But my cats generally take awhile to not hide when a stranger enters my home. I used to hold Sunday dinner parties for single friends and new acquaintances. I'd invited a guy I'd met at a dog beach. He was not someone I'd typically be attracted to– he was funny and friendly (which are musts) but not my tall, dark, handsome type. My two cats always hid until all guests had left. But this fellow offered to stay and help me clean up. And I was shocked that my cats came out immediately to greet him. I thought "hmmm, there must be something really special about this guy" as this had NEVER happened before. Well, I decided to trust that my cats knew something I didn't. Long story short…he became the greatest love of my life! He passed away a few years ago but I'll always trust my cats to choose my soulmates from now on.

  7. It makes sense actually the way this cat is. Cece was most is probably traumatized by the death of her owner and was probably very attached to that person, so it would be a lot for her to adjust to a new home and new people after that. As loving and nice as it is, it is possible that the cat might not be the same as before (if at one time cuddly in affection) because cats are really smart and remember things. And that’s ok.

  8. No wonder he is grumpy at times you cut his claws!! Cats need them when they climb, fight and hunt. But maybe you wont let him go outside either. I am 69 have had cats since my mid 20ies, I have had cats living in flat in a town and living on the countryside and they where all let outside and they all lived a good life.

No one of all these cats I had never had a claw cut and they all pased away cause they got sick cause they where old. The cat I have now have a thyroid problem but with the right food he is still going strong and I believe his 15 years + (we got him late in his life) I exspect him to live at least a few years more.

But I am in Sweden maybe american cats are a special breed. People feel bad about caged animals and get ever so happy when they finally are released but fail to see a cat suffer the same way when not being allowed to live a free life.
