This year has been busy for Humane Society International’s Animal Rescue Team. Whether offering aid to people and animals in Ukraine, facilitating the closure of a dog meat farm in South Korea and a slaughterhouse in Viet Nam, transporting and rehabilitating dogs rescued from a slaughterhouse-bound truck in Indonesia, or rescuing animals from a cruelty and neglect case in Mexico, our team is always there to answer the call for animals. See some of the inspiring moments with our international Animal Rescue Team from the past year.
Every year, we rescue thousands of animals from puppy mills, animal fighting operations, disasters and other large-scale situations of cruelty and neglect. We never know when animals may be in need, but we know we must be ready. We work with law enforcement to investigate the worst cases of animal abuse nationwide and around the world.
Our Animal Rescue Team is highly trained and ready to deploy at a moment’s notice. Before and after disasters, the team works with local agencies on pre-storm preparations, developing pet-friendly evacuation plans, securing food and other resources and emergency field rescue for animals caught in harm’s way.
