Spread The Viralist

Piers Morgan comments on actor Alec Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter charges after he accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie ‘Rust’, which he was starring in and co-producing.

Piers is joined in the studio by lawyer Paula Rhone-Adrien, TalkTV presenter Richard Tice and TalkTV International Editor Isabel Oakeshott to debate how much blame should lie with Baldwin and how much should be put on the other crew members.

  1. A person is hired whose ONE job was gun safety. She did not do her job. She is responsible for a gun having live ammunition, when there should be none on the set anywhere. She is responsible for not being present when a gun was being used. The actor cannot be responsible for everything that the armorer is responsible for. He is responsible for being sure he is told it is a cold gun—he did that. I’m not a fan of Alec Baldwin, and I understand he is not very popular, but right is right. He cannot be blamed for the armorer not doing her job. As Producer, his job was to hire an armorer, as an actor, he was responsible for not shooting the gun until he was told it was a cold gun. He did that.

  2. How is Alec Baldwin guilty he never loaded the gun ? I'm not a fan of any of his work and I
won't be watching this one if they finish it but that seems a bit weird

  3. Actors are often given titles as 'Producer' in name only. They don't have any responsibilites as a Producer at all, this is an industry standard (Piers doesn't this as he doesn't work in films). Also many actors are not trained to verify firearms and rely on the crew/props department to do it (again, an industry standard) as set by the production company, not the actor. I don't think him being charged will gain/resolve anything. I believe the industry needs to learn from this tragedy to make sure it never happens again – introduce some new strict procedures.

  4. I'm sorry but there are some real idiots in the comments here. Are his answers idiotic and doing him harm in the public eye? Yes

Is he ultimately the responsible person for the death? No. I'm sorry, he is just not. Yes he holds some minor indirect blame due to being a producer, however, it's the Armorers' fault in the end. You can't control people like puppets and mind control them to do everything right all the time. It's the Armorers 's mistake and if there is to be any accountability it's with them, not Alec, just because you find him unlikable.

  5. It's common sense to check EVERY gun no matter if it was yours or not! He shot her, he's guilty of involuntary manslaughter, end of story..

  6. He may have pulled the trigger but he didn't load the gun. Others were responsible for non live round and why were live rounds on set anyway? Somebody messed up and its not him. He's paid to act.

  7. Interesting take aways..

After the tragedy, Alec reached out to several people involved in the film. (Probably harrasingly.) The attorney for the victim's husband ultimately sent Baldwin a “cease & desist” letter.

Alec told people the incident was a sabotage.

The investigation took a year to complete. Partly because Sheriff’s Office didn’t receive a full report on Baldwin’s cellphone data findings until August, more than nine months after the shooting. (He waited 3 months to turn the phone in.)

The phone log showed that no phone calls on the day of the shooting were contained in the report. The Sheriff’s camera video show Baldwin talking on his cellphone when he was first approached by a sheriff’s deputy directly after the shooting, and he used it to make calls at the police station. Investigators had to look into what other phones Baldwin may have used.

Two days after the incident, Baldwin sent a message to his assistant Jonah Foxman and advised, “I have to delete my archive,”

In Dec 2021, (2 months after the shooting) he started calling a few investigators asking when they would wrap it up because it was putting a strain on his work. They told Baldwin that they needed his phone records.

The victim's husband reached a settlement. As part of the agreement, production of “Rust” would resume with him as executive producer on the film….(he's a lawyer with limited experience in film…is he really so desperate to get into film making that he wants to be part of a movie where his wife died…,ok)

Alec is now suing several people from the film for negligence that he alleges caused the fatal incident.

The script supervisor is suing Baldwin & others for assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress & negligence.

The film was supposed to start filming again this month, but the big A finally got charged.

    Insane.

  8. Another case of big mouthed Morgan sounding off his humongous foghorn again! Imagine going to a paintball gun centre, pointing the gun at your friend then to your horror found that you had shot them dead with a live round! Or working at the carnival (fun fair) locking someone into the ride and finding that the restraining bar had failed because of a sick co-worker had tampered with the locking mechanism. When asked if you felt guilty and you replied ‘no’ just distraught you had ‘Moron Morgan’ all over you on NATIONAL TV!!!! How would he like it? Thank God as a British expat living in the USA, he returned to England, because that they were not far short of deporting him, because of his BIG MOUTH!!!!!! Regarding the claim that they ‘ALL’ check their guns, I don’t personally buy it. That could be a stacked deck of potential witnesses. Simply because ‘ALL’ in the sense of the ones that ‘claim’ that they do! I doubt if the ones that don’t (probably almost all of them I would imagine) are going to come prancing out with a big smile on their face declaring that they don’t bother either!!!!!! This man is pathetic and should not be given a platform to spew his his utter nonsense. Richard is 1 million percent correct. The problem is that in America they always have someone to blame! Always someone to sue! It is a sad tragedy. It happens it’s life. 37,000 people die on roads in USA every year. I would hate to be involved as the one technically at fault with ‘Mad Morgans’ appetite for ‘Monday morning quarterbacking!!!!! We don’t even treat ‘At fault’ car drivers like that in life let alone ones that aren’t! Don’t stay in Britain Piers. Move to China or Australia. Stay away from us as far as possible!!!!!

  9. Should have checked the gun before he fired it. I have never had any respect for Alec Baldwin. Arrogant Prick. If it had been a regular person, they would have been charged with homicide. He deserves this- after all- he was one of the producers. A PRODUCER.
