I live in Manisa, in western Turkey. We were not affected by the earthquake, but we are all very sad. The buildings built in our country do not pass control and inspection. Even buildings built a few years ago are destroyed in an earthquake. That's why we're losing lives. We are all very sorry.

I can’t believe how quickly these buildings collapsed. Shows the buildings were not built correctly to sustain a earthquake. I know here in america we have laws, building codes. I thought turkey had the same thing but I just heard the president a couple years ago allowed builders to build these buildings and not have to follow the building standards for earthquakes. Very sad, he has a lot of explaining to do. He is liable for this tragedy.
