on Thursday 08 March 2023 The worst flooding hit the city of Chone and the canton of Chone after several small rivers and tributaries – tributaries of the River Chone – burst their banks.
Floodwaters, mud and debris swept through parts of the town of Chone and the parishes of Santa Rita, Canuto, Ricaurte and San Antonio. Dozens of houses were badly damaged and some were even destroyed. SGR reported that around 2,000 families were affected and one person died.
