Japan HAD the best system in place in 2011 & approximately 20,000 died. One the major issues was that, though they knew it was coming, forecasters kept saying things like, "expect 3 meters;" or "high of 5 meters" — all while 20 meter waves were ALREADY hitting the coast!
A lot were killed in "rescue centers" because they thought they were high enough or far away enough to survive.
Just keep running/climbing — there's no such thing as "too far away!"
Thailand DID NOT GET similar death and destruction to Banda Aceh and North Sumatra. In Sumatra, waves were up to 35m high and rubbed out a city, towns and villages – 130,000 people. In the Andaman, up to 15,000 died with up to 8m high tsunamis. Totally different.

6:42 one thing I noticed is that there are almost no sensors placed around the ocean south of Java, while that area has the same mega thrust with the one around the west side of Sumatra. This is dangerous, hope Indonesian government notice it and take it seriously

To sum it up, picture yourself in an inflatable pool with a floatie, when you make a jump with that floatie the water forms a circle like small wave. That's how tsunamis work

My whole family is Sri-Lankan and they experienced this tsunami and half of them sadly died while the others watching in absolute horror of the destruction and now when I ask them to go to beach they refuse in fear 😂. #they are so traumatized#

I was there just before it happened, on PhiPhi island, I know tsunami prelude signals but I know most people don't. That's 1st thing I said "why didn't they just get the mobile companies to text everyone?
Fuck knows, it was stupid to just let that wash all over Indonesia and warn no one. It took hours for it to traverse that area
Why are these tsunami waves always portrayed as something someone would surf on…..? It's pure sensationalism…….. It's surge upon surge of ever increasing deluges until it reaches a peak. These videos are misleading.
It was so lucky that The Philippines was spared at that time since it shares an island with Indonesia and Malaysia and a little bit far from the epicenter at Sumatra
And in the Atlantik Ocean, where are the warning Stations?
Okay but how did the 2004 tsunami affected multiple countries from 1 island, like did it turned multiple directions to reach India, Kenya & etc. to south Africa?😦😦

I'm very happy that someone put Tsunami warning systems in place. It could save up to 1/2 a million people. BUT, you must do something about these electrical turbines, windmills, or whatever you want to call them that generate electricity. First of all they do not benefit Americans in any way. Second of all they are drying up our flora, hence killing our ecosystem and wiping out every spesies imaginable! Our TALL GRASS PRARIES in OK & KS produce almost all of the oxygen for the entire USA.
Now our Tall Grass Praries are in grave danger. We have droughts because these windmills have pushed our Jet stream to the extreme South and we have no rain. With no buffalo, horses, or cattle, to graze our Tall Grasses they cannot grow deep roots needed to produce oxygen (to simplify). Get the stats from OSU.
That is just the beginning of the problem; fire, no food growth, dirt instead of grass (another permanent dust bowl), unseasonable tempuratures, tornados, floods, snow, ice, etc., in areas not prepared or ill-equiped for it. The list goes on and on!
Just think about putting a small fan on your face & head every night for 1 year. What will happen? Your skin will become dehydrated, wrinkles will form, and oil production halts. And that is just surface changes.
Now, put thousands of fans across the USA and look what you are doing to our face of the earth that protects our planet, our ecosystem, and our way of life.
