An evacuation order was issued for the Porterville neighborhood on Thursday night after recent storms flooded the Tour River.
The affected area was south of Rio Vista Avenue, near East Date Avenue and South Plano Avenue.
Updated at 21:00. We were told that there was erosion on the banks of the river.
Emails from the City of Porterville and Tulare County said the order was issued “against all homes, businesses and buildings” along the road.
A temporary shelter was located at Porterville College, 100 East. university street.
This is his second recent evacuation order in the city of Thule County, and the order in Porterville affected about 100 people early Wednesday morning.
Porterville isn’t the only area at risk of flooding in Tulare County.
An evacuation alert was issued for the communities of Alpau and Allensworth early Thursday.
Also on Thursday, Touré County Sheriff Mike Boudreau issued an evacuation order for all homes, businesses and buildings north of the North Fork of the Tour River to Avenue 192 and east of Highway 99 to Street 152. Due to the outflow of the Kawea River, Lake Kawea was also closely monitored by the Army Corps of Engineers.
