For all the flaws with this movie, I do like this scene, because it fits Marian's characterization in the older written stories. In the Broadside Ballads, she disguises herself as a man to find Robin. She runs into him, also disguised, and thinking the other is a threat, they fight. Marian actually beats him in a pretty brutal sword fight and is close to killing him before she realizes she nearly took out her boyfriend. So yeah, this scene is definitely in character.
Reminds me of my fights with my first wife.
