While the concept of infinity may seem mysterious, mathematicians have developed processes to reason the strange properties of infinity. Mathematician Emily Riehl has been challenged to explain infinity to 5 different people; a child, a teen, a college student, a grad student, and an expert.

This….this sounds more like philosophy
Wait, chalkboards still exist???
Infinity is something that goes on for ever, not something that goes in circles. A circle is insanity looping and expecting different infinite results.
She is really good! A lot of professors should take a notice.
I think it's stupid, doing science just for doing science. Infinity doesn't exist in the nature, the infinite hotel doesn't exist. If they admit it's abstract, like poetry, and mathematics foundations are made up by them, why do they teach it their students? You don't "teach" students poems because it's just one way of expression, nothing universal. Why do they keep digging? For what?
I got lost in the phd section, but totally understood the philosophic section
So there is a finite way to make infinity ?
If only my teachers explained things this well
Level 6 infinity is undefined.
Infinite set seems contradictory.
It also never begins.
15:10+ onward: people speaking English WORDS when actually speaking of NUMBERS, and I do NOT understand this theory. xD
As someone who was not strictly a "math" kid (more so a science and art and language kid), it was easy to see with her talking to the college guy where my own sensibility of these concepts totally shut-off were like, "Nope, I don't need to comprehend anymore to live this life," at. xD I highly praise my family and others with the brain to grasp such concepts, though, as it is so fascinating! I really, oddly enjoy these types of videos as a post-collegiate academic, not necessarily majoring in Mathematics but appreciating it.
It’s a mathematical concept, not a number, that represents a quantity that never ends. That’s all the average person will ever need to know.
bro, that college student needs to fail…he keeps saying BY INTUITION the set of infinite numbers larger than other set of infinite number, but thats the exact opposite what intuition does in this instance. by intuition (or just pure logic if you want) infinite amount of numbers is the same size as any other infinite amount of numbers because it never ends so it doesnt matter how you divide it you cant compare the amount because its infinite
I stopped at level 4. Im an engineer
kinda felt like they stopped speaking English at the expert category
WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THIS KNOWLEDGE! HOW DO YOU EARN MONEY WITH IT?
🤯
Looks like the version of Katy Perry who learned that math is related to science
One of the things that caught me off-guard when a friend said it to me, was „some infinities are bigger than others“. Like WHAT? But it makes sense. There is an infinite number of whole numbers (or what do you call them? Like 1, 2, 3, 4, etc). But there is an even bigger infinity of decimals like 1,1 ; 1,2 ; etc.
A woman explaining maths, what a time to be alive lol
i bet the kid can explain a better definition of gender than this goof
The child is smarter than most influencers today
