  1. I’ve posted my thoughts and more video of the crash here:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54_zELFQ7iI

This is the 6th video Misha has posted of the #pinderwagen on his channel and we were both hopeful of getting some great incar footage.

For the first time in several years, the Golf had zero issues, all the work over the winter to replace the gearbox with a much stronger SQS H Pattern dog box and sequential shifter meant I was finally able to do 2 days at Spa, then 2 days at the Ring without the gearbox letting me down.

This was lap 2, by that I mean I’d done a lap, came back into the carpark, adjusted tyre pressures and gone straight back out for this lap. The ambient temperature was around 9 degrees and I believe this is probably what caused the issue with the rear tyres not fully warming up.

In future, on cool days like this I’ll run A052`s on the rear instead. They warm up quicker and offer similar grip. I run slicks as they are a fraction of the cost of A052`s or Direzzas.

People always comment in these videos that I could have bought a BMW or Porsche for what this cost, my replies are always the same. You couldn’t and I didn’t have the money 17 years ago when I started. The car has been developed as I’ve saved up and wanted more from the Golf.

I have also learned a huge amount along the way which is a big part of the enjoyment for me. Just buying a car off the shelf and driving it with no opportunity for development holds zero interest.

Many thanks to Misha for sharing these laps and I genuinely appreciate all the positive comments we’ve received over the years.

I’m not a mechanic, I don’t have a race team behind me, I’m just a home enthusiast who loves learning, getting stuck in and driving an old MK2 Golf I built on the Nurburgring.

  2. I'm armchair critic here, but watching the Video, you see the car is quite unstable the whole time and it's getting worse from corne to corner, the last two to three corners before he went spinning you really see it's super unstable and you expect it crashing soon, came earlier than I expected it to happen. It's doesn't look stable or decent balanced.

  3. Good fast variants legendar special gearbox manual The short box. You can switch more quickly and reduce power in time. There will be no load on the motor. Easier to drive in all corners. Never use the "long box", shift too slowly and reduce power under load, you can slip off the track. There are special adjustable gears of the short box Faster or slower. Always in many corners Short adjustable manual gearbox gives good results. Even at high speeds.

  4. Njaaa. Remmember ever .Golf set weight balansed car max speed . Balancing weight car good your control TIRES . ALL CAR . Max speed your car ,,flight,, well ,,soft weight,,

  5. I think it was the grass got the tire wet/ cooled it off as he was turning left it had no grip and the car rotated. As he went left and tried to recover. Bloodly hell mate! Have to watch you lines and stay off the grass at that point! Or add massive fans to add extra down Force.. ❤ that Golf it reminds me of my GTI i miss her😢

  6. 2 crashes in 3000 laps! That's pretty good going tbh. Can't imgaine many racing drivers can say that and you were seriously pushing. I've been at those speeds and it's seriously dangerous.

  7. Don't know if it was just me but it was like he was getting too much air under the front end of the car, you could see the front end really lifting up at times. Looked a bit floaty at times, brave man for pushing it so hard I think I would have called it a day long before that point 😅

  8. they dont call it "Green Hell" for no reason, it is NOT an easy track and anything can happen at any moment, so fortunate that the crash wasnt worse, i also agree, seemed like low tire temp to me with how the car lost balance

  9. Might have just been a slight breeze that nudged him just enough. Also looked like he might have hit abit hard in the compression. Maybe tweaked something abit

  10. The best drivers in the world crash, the blood pumping from pushing you and the cars limits is why we do this. Hope it gets fixed soon enough!!

  11. I think Nigel's experience went far in him being able to come away from this. Should of checked his seat to see how big a hole his bumhole left when it puckered haha
