The section of the Mississippi River from the Twin Cities to and around Burlington, Iowa has now increased to moderate to severe flood levels. The stretch along the Iowa-Illinois border may see additional gains to peak in early May.
Some moderate flooding is expected downstream along the Illinois-Missouri border north of St. Louis. Louis this week. The water level in the river can drop below the flood level within a few weeks. River flooding peaked in the upper Midwest this week and reached levels not seen in over 20 years in the upper Mississippi Valley.
