NAHA, OKINAWA – Okinawa is an island in southern Japan, yet its culture and food are vastly different from what you typically think of as Japanese. Today I’m hanging out with my friend Yuji-San and we’re going to take you on an ultimate Okinawan food tour!
Thanks to my friend Yuji-San for taking me about Naha: https://www.instagram.com/hotel_manager_jt/
1. MEGURO miso soup stand: https://goo.gl/maps/rGGLu9RtcAL23eHo9 – We started off for the greatest ever rice ball and craft miso soup. It was a totally new experience and appreciation for miso soup.
Total price – 2,800 JPY
2. Tofu Soba at Takaesu Soba: https://goo.gl/maps/mD4vzTqqHxaJdCSL8 – In Okinawa, soba is totally different from the buckwheat noodles you get in other parts of Japan. Okinawan soba is something nearly everyone eats for lunch and it’s more similar to ramen with wheat noodles and pork ribs. We went to this special place for their tofu soba.
Total price – 2,770 JPY
3. Ice snow cones at Fujiya Tomari: https://goo.gl/maps/Q8SF83Vjq6FoUUwH9 – Another thing you have to try in Okinawa is their snow cones.
Price – 1,350 JPY for everything
4. Okinawan Izakaya at Urizun: https://goo.gl/maps/iwbuKjfUUG1yxNNK7 – In order get a taste of traditional Okinawan food, we went to Urizun. Again, dishes were totally different from anywhere else I’ve bee.
Price – 9,353 JPY for everything
5. Goat Sashimi at Nijuban (20th) Goat Restaurant: https://goo.gl/maps/UwNcUyueA6eVYKBw7 – Finally there was one meal I was not going to leave Okinawa without trying – goat sashimi!
Price – 3,400 JPY for everything
Okinawa is a wonderful island to visit with a truly unique food culture. Thank you for watching this Okinawan food tour!

So awesome Mark! What a great experience foe you, the ramen with that clear broth looked like heaven in a plate.
Those soups looks like reviah
How can anyone actually watch this guy? I give him chance after chance after chance but I can't with all the slurpy smacky grotesque noises he makes talking with his mouth full. Not to mention the SAME OVERUSED big eyed, turtle face reaction he gives EVERY time he tries a food. That's why I watch the Best Ever Food Review Show, Sonny has standards and manners.
Never forget on ongoing extinction level event that is Fukushima. It's killed and poisoned all life in all the oceans.
Mahalo for explaining the difference between mainland Japan and Okinawan food. People don't realize that Okinawa was once it's own country with their own language, too. BTW, you must have been influenced by your mother and/or grandmother by calling it shave ice!
🌟🦋💖💙💚💜
FINALLY!!!! I’ve been living here for 4 1/2 years and my kids and I have said for 4 1/2 years when will Mark Wens come to this amazing island!!!! I knew it would happen one day ❤!!!! I am soooo happy 😃.
অনেক দারুন অসাধারণ একটা ব্লগ ছিলো খাবারের আইটেম গুলো দেখতে অনেক সুন্দর
Incredible! Wow the tofu from Japan is so buttery & delightful it literally just melts in your mouth instantly when consuming. I has been fortunate to experience the Korean version as well and find it more of my liking because of the spicy kick it contains each bite. Either one is desirable & satisfying. Thanks again & again Mark for the great substance you never tend to miss provide us foodies. 🍜🍚🍸 Cheers!
too fresh ✌
Really disappointed. How can you title this video "BIZARRE FOODS Only on This Island!!" and not include the most bizarre of them all. TACO RICE with Cheese??? It's such a strange story of how this became a famous Okinawan dish.
I've always wanted to go there ever since I watched the Karate Kid movies. It seems like a beautiful place to visit
I have been waiting for you to visit Okinawa! So excited to see the foods I grew up eating.
What is the thing that he says tastes like cheese and alcohol?
I am slowly adding more Japanese food into my diet. I love the culture and the food is amazing.
Beautiful! All the dishes seemed like such unpretentious, honest food, somehow bursting with nutrition and vitality. The fermented items and ingredients and the peanut tofu were particularly curiosity-inducing. The pig ears, too!
stop talking with your mouth full of food.
it's dirty and it's not very respectful for the viewer.
Dude your videos have gotten me through over a year of depression from grieving. So uplifting and inspiring. You're awesome brotha
fresh shaved bonito
With all the many different dishes you ate, you did not put GHOST PEPPER on any of it ??
Didn't flim it ,right ?? " SURE "
