In southern South Africa, significant floods were triggered by a cut-off low weather system over the Easter weekend of April 19–22, 2019. Over the Easter weekend in South Africa, the cut-off low-pressure system delivered heavy precipitation with the help of a high-pressure system near the surface. More than 80 people died as a result of it in and around the city of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal Province, in southeast South Africa. It also caused substantial damage to the property and infrastructure.
