Three words: "Bridge To Terabithia". Never has my entire family cried so many tears at a movie death and the subsequent reactionary scenes.
Although Apollo's death was sad, Mickey's death was waaaay more depressing, Rocky's cries still get me in the feels
Ill add Mirtali in the series Land of the Olive (Gi tis elias)
Glen in a nightmare on elm street has left the chat
Sirius Black's death did hurt me, but Dobby's, Fred, Tonks & Lupin's death hurt me more
No other movie has rlly toyed with my emotions other than the Green Mile, I bawled like a baby the first time and still shed a tear whenever I watch it again. John Coffey’s death has that right of being number one
One that didn't make the list- Heroin Bob from SLC Punk
I'm surprised that the sad ending from night of the living dead was not in this video
You all forgot the fault in our stars and a walk to remember
Another really sad one was when the mom died in The Art of Racing In The Rain. It’s sad even from a dogs perspective as it sets up the plot point of the man loosing his only tie to his wife: his little girl.
I know its not a movie death, but tech's death at the end of bad batch season 2 still hurts
John Coffey’s death is the saddest death in a movie I’ve ever seen, that’s pretty universal I’m sure. But I strongly disagree with how low Johnny Cade’s death was ranked. Tony Stark did not deserve to be above him. Tony Stark’s redemption was half-assed and nowhere near as personal as Johnny Cade’s was, since Johnny put himself in physical danger and suffered the way he did for kids who didn’t appreciate it at the time. Not to mention how realistic it was – the stakes, the death itself, and the aftermath. Johnny seemed like a real person – in fact I knew someone who reminded me of him growing up. He also affected change slowly, but personally and more effectively than Tony Stark. Think about it – Tony Stark wasn’t as personable considering what he symbolizes in the world. Being a billionaire automatically distances him from the dirty struggles Johnny Cade faced. Not to mention Tony Stark is just an excuse for sadboys to continue hating women for their shitty personalities while they jack off on the completely unreasonable fantasy of being him. The hallmark of good storytelling is relating to a character you normally would have nothing to do with. I can’t relate to Tony Stark, and I’m not alone in this sentiment. There will be Tony Stark stans who disagree and will even threaten anyone who disagrees with this, but I refuse to change my mind. And I stand by this next statement: it takes courage to be a Johnny. It doesn’t to be a Tony.
Denzel Washington MAN ON FIRE / Loki and black widow the endgame / black panther forever
You forgot Stephen McCaffrey (Kurt Russell) in Backdraft
Luke Skywalker – because Disney botched it soooooooooo badly
Ricky from Boyz n the Hood?
Pay It Forward & The Boy In The Stripped Pajamas got me in school
Emma’s death in Terms of Endearment should have been ranked much higher. The scene when her boys come in to say goodbye, puts me in tears every time. By the time she dies, and seeing Aurora’s reaction, I lose it. 😢
"Give her the shot" from Terms of endearment. I've actually had to do that for my mom. She had enough of hospitals and we both knew she was never coming home again. It was five minutes early and the nurses we're just useless. I get more compassion and common sense from my vet than "modern" medicine.
No love for Mufasa??
Goose in Top Gun, and Iceman in Top Gun: Maverick. Super controversial: John Connor in Terminator Dark Fate.
The ONLY "Ridiculous" thing in Rocky 4 was the stupid robot. The "cold war metaphors" were SPOT on for those of us in the military, especially those of us who were stationed in a pre-unification Berlin, West Germany, at the time. Most civilians, especially those who never lived in a different country during that time, didn't take the dangers of 'The Cold War' seriously.
Death of Yondu.
Amazing and so sad 😢😢😢😢😢
The death of Jenny in Forrest Gump.
I just came straight to the comments to ask, why would anyone put themselves through watching this video?
The death of Han Solo in Star Wars The force awakens. Han Solo always was my favorite character in Star Wars, so I was not happy that he was murdered by his own son. It was pretty clear that it was going to happen, but I still hated that it did happen.
When My Girl came out, Macaulay Culkin was so famous off of Home Alone and playing so against that type that it wouldn't even occur to the viewer that they'd kill him off. Of course, the main movie setting being a house/funeral home meant that a main character would die but you don't expect it the way the death plays out… and that's before Vada finds out. Dan Aykroyd telling her and the resulting funeral scene… the ultimate tearjerker just thinking about it.
