Missing Titanic sub has 40 hours of oxygen left says US Coast Guard – BBC News

Spread The Viralist

A tourist submersible that went missing on a visit to the wreck of the Titanic with five people on board has just 40 hours of air left, the US Coastguard says.

The search to locate the small, deep-diving vessel is ongoing after it lost contact while diving near the wreckage of the Titanic.

The research vessel Polar Prince lost contact with the crew of the Titan sub an hour and 45 minutes into its dive.

Tour firm OceanGate said it was exploring all options to get the crew back safely, and government agencies have joined the rescue operation.

  1. Sadly, the submersible didn't seem to have been anywhere near as deep as the Titanic. I've hear 3,000ft being said, so would it be right to say that the implosion and the speed of it wouldn't be as instantaneous as described here? Pretty gnarly either way.

  2. Usual non reporting from BBC. May should be followed by or may not when unfounded claims are made. Funny your fact checker misinformation specialist Mariana doesn't actually fact check anything

  3. A few things:
    1. I feel the CEO wanted his name and picture to be on the same page as Steve Jobs, Elon Musks, etc.
    2. Does anyone else find the design of the Titan to be creepy looking??
    3. I've heard that the more people visit the Titanic, the more damage they cause to it (e.g., bumping into it on accident, etc.)
    4. Apparently the Titan has a toilet… why? I'd tell everyone to use the bathroom beforehand and give everyone an adult diaper?
    5. I don't know about y'all, but I would rather them re-build the Titanic and let that serve as a Tourist Destination as opposed to risking my life going down there – you can't see much down there and it looks like the whole thing is covered with Rust.
    6. I get the feeling that some amusement park is going to adopt this into some scary ride, only to be roasted and canceled by the internet.
    7. Lastly, I bet there will be an international treaty that will soon prevent people visiting the Titanic or it may require a permit of some sort.

  4. So much attention for a bunch of insanely rich fools that had no other idea how to spend their money, while millions are dying yearly of famine and curable disseases. F*** off with these type of "stories"!

  5. Five Darwin Award winners for 2023…Gonratulations. if they had other people besides white males searching,im sure they would have lifved. The African military and scientifc community should have handled this…Not incompitent white males

  6. Nobody can become financially successful over night. They put in background work but we tend to see the finished part. Fear is a dangerous component, hindering us from taking bold steps we need in other to reach our goals.
