Muay Thai In Street Fighting

Muay Thai, or Thai boxing, is Thailand’s national sport and goes all the way back to the 13th century, when Thailand was under the Sukhothai Kingdom. It was originally used for military training and battles. It is now a popular martial art not only in Thailand, but across the world. However, the question is whether Muay Thai can be used effectively in street fighting, which is what we’re going to find out in today’s video.

  1. you dont wanna go to the ground in a street fight. some other guy might start kicking you or some guy bites or even pull out a knife

  2. Muay Thai and kickboxing are great offensively sure, but defensively it fantastic in the street as well especially Muay Thai. Always keeping your hands up and moving is essential in Muay Thai. When I spar with someone new I always notice that my defense is on point because I’m just moving around watching and waiting.

  3. Love the video but a round house kick not the most powerful move in muay thai. A knee into the face while the head is held by both arms and hands around the back.. is.

  4. The best strategy for a street fight is to not be in a street fight. There is no winning a streetfight. You end up getting knocked out your head hits the concrete, causing you to bleed out and die. The other person ends up in jail with a manslaughter charge.

  5. personally i'd say trick your opponent into a clinch with the muay thai clinching techniques then go for the headbutt to the nose I used that one when I was in highschool it instantly stopped the fight

  6. So i grew up in the 90s fighting upperclassmen with boxing skills at 11 years old then I never lost a street fight growing up coupled with Greco wrestling. When I was 19 I went to college and learned BJJ, Muay Thai, Hapkido and Knife defense in one class. I went on to a Muay Thai BJJ gym by 20. Then by 23 I had my first debut and I ended a 6-1 career. I can vouch for Muay Thai. I am 33 and going to compete back home in Alaska this November 😅😊 but yeah BJJ with Greco wrestling is pretty substantial. But you need to spar hard and find out if you're a actual fighter

  7. I love how the style was summarized in the video. Really helps give a sense of how effective it may be. I think the strikes are certainly deadly but may rely too much on having more stamina and power than your opponent.

  8. So … anyone asking if Muay thai works in street tells me that they have never been kicked by a Muay thai pro lol

One Muay thai kick will end 89% of street fight, two Muay thai kicks will end 99% of street fight, on average people who dont train/condition their body. You dont even need to get close to throw or anything because kick is the longest limb to attack, so you keep yourself safe from being headbutt or stabbed.

Btw, learn grabbing is good too but the purpose of learning is to know how not to get taken down. You dont learn it so you can go down on the ground fighting.

  9. Fantastic video. Thanks for posting. A quick word on fighting from the clinch, in a street fight. Work as fast as you can to drop them to the floor. Those punches to landing to your body, which you can't see but can still feel, could easily be a knife stabbing into you, and you might not know what's happening until after you've gone into shock and have started to pass out.

  10. Best Part of muay Thai For a street fight is defintly the Leg Kicks. Most people dont realise how much They Hurt. If they are Not fighters themselves.

  11. Step 1: Muscle your body up Step 2: Go in your fighting stance Step 3: throw a crazy kick before fight Step 4: walk away cause there scared Only fight in the ring never street fight it could be 1 v 8

  12. Well, answer is obviously yes. Combining brutal strikes and endurance with füll contact Training, while also including standup-grappling. Would not mess with a Nak Muay without a ref

  13. If you are at a point where you’re regularly concerned for your safety in public, learning to fight doesn’t attack the root of the problem, I’m not saying you shouldn’t learn to fight, I’m just saying that you could easily die in a street fight, even with training.

  14. Muay thai is probably the most complete and effective martial art on it's own as it not only uses everything in the standup but trains takedowns and balance too. Add some basic head movement and slipping from boxing plus minimum Bjj for survival and you get a very well rounded fighter. I am saying this as someone who has never trained Muay Thai unfortunately
