sick if hearing all the reasons why Shane won I can't wait for the day when he comes full time and wins on the ovals and road courses as well
This dude on the right,is going to eat his words, when Shane comes back, after V8 Super cars
Ide love to see Kyal Bush race at bathurst
Shanes also a formula drift driver
We got a couple more drivers just as good.
Let's have our top 10 against your top 10 I'd watch that
There is a Mark Larkham interview with a Kiwi podcast here on YT where he explains why the heal/toe technique does matter regardless of the clutch – it is designed to have the engine "rev" higher to avoid the engine braking impact that would otherwise occur.
And no paddle shift in Supercars. They contemplated it but elected not to. The big thing is not over revving the engine on the down shifts.
SVG has way less seat time than NASCAR drivers and no simulators. Not a valid excuse.
SVG would whip them all at Watkins Glen too. He makes Ambrose look slow by his tyre preservation and late race speed. Don't be fooled by his smile. His race craft is way above anyone.
Everyone can't go V-8 Supercars racing to get street racing experince.
So can we conceive that Americans don't know how to race but they do know how to drive fast lol or are we going to still be dishonest? Nevermind looks like we will find more excuses.
SVG disadvantages: Wrong side of car – spatial awareness (big), shifting with opposite hand, different settings and familiarity, new team and rules, new to car and characteristics, pile up, pit strategy.
SVG equal with field:
Same conditions, new to track.
SVG advantage:
Skill and road race experience.
All should know: race lines, how to drive in wet, how to conserve tyres, have the balls to put the car close to the wall, how to overtake.
There was a footcam shot during the race, I think it was into turn 1 showing Shane modulating the clutch quite a lot. This is a skill he teaches young drivers at Norwell Motorplex to help rotate the car into the corner. It all adds up
You guys are a joke. The single file restarts hampered SVG not helped him. With his ability to brake deeper and position his car basically wherever he wants to achieve a passing manoeuvre the 2 row starts would have been a simple way to the front for him. Especially considering the amount of spastic driving that caused cautions. Give a word class driver the credit he deserves, listen to what Hamlin had to say about SVG # greatest fu$#@ng athlete of all time.
Remember: Watkins Glen International exists because the people of Watkins Glen, NY realized way back in 1955 that street racing sucks.
The nascar drivers are good at what they do, but they should be thankful that there weren’t 4 supercar drivers in the race. SVG was perfect for this race, but add Scott Mac, Jaimie Whincup or any one of the v8 winners in the same race, they would have forced Giz to stretch himself and then they’d have waltzed off into the distance.
Not because they are better, but because they do these races all the time!
Give it a rest….shane kicked your arses…get on with life…..
Cup drivers basically need non-NASCAR NASCAR race cars to drive around on the streets lol. Otherwise yeah, no track time is gonna happen outside of practice, qualifying, and races.
FYI we have double car restarts in v8 Supercars also.
Will SVG be offered a chance to defend his win next year in Chicago?
Honestly the way the NASCAR media have tripped over themselves to explain the “advantages” Shane had over the rest of the Cup field is far more embarrassing than any performance difference between him and the rest of the field in Chicago.
Left hand drive too.
“These cup drivers don’t get enough credit” Yet you try and devalue SVG win.
This guy (SVG) may just make NASCAR watchable! More road races would sure help too. Just AWESOME!
"SVG had everything going for him" ? He had the least time in the car before the race, he was driving on the opposite side to which he is familiar with, the pedal box was not to his liking and the pit proceedure was unfamiliar to him.
He also drove the opposite side of his normal car.. svg is an absolute beast!!
And just remember he dosent drive on that side either so to adapt to that is amazing
Interested to see a NASCAR driver at Bathurst
He wins and qualified for the chase , and won't be in it. That rase was a joke . But media hypes it up. Ha. Garbage.
My gut feeling is he will shock them and himself on an oval.
I have looked at the schedules and if Suarez misses the chase I would love to see them enter him at homestead this year.
Heel toe down shifting is standard practice to rev match engine speed and wheel speed, in manual race cars everywhere in the world, except America it seems.
Supercars doesn't use paddle shifters. They were going to for the new car but us fans said no thanks we want to see the gearbox.
Those Nascar drivers are way more then 8 years behind Shane. He has 15 years of street circuit racing as well as variable weather conditions.
