Thousands of quarries exist across the country but some can be disastrous. Jonathan Baksh, 19, jumped into Martin’s Creek quarry in Pennsylvania in 2015, but he never made it back to land after suffering a cramp in the water. His mom was stunned when she found out her son was the second young man to die in quarry that year. Now, as the one year anniversary of her son’s passing arrives next month, she’s on a crusade to tell the world about the dangers of swimming in quarries. #InsideEdition

I can confirm the “Blue Hole” as we call it or the quarry out here in South Jersey is very dangerous. We had a couple of people pass away from the big drops and freezing temperatures in the last few summers. Stay safe y’all💯
No quarries. I got this.
My friends and I have seen a few people become seriously injured after preforming stunts at a swimming hole. Every time they get hurt really bad everyone would leave and we would leave them there. Not our problem LMAO 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Inside Edition @1:57 that's a front end loader not a bulldozer.
What happened he got tired?
It’s not the quarry that killed him his legs cramped up while he was swimming across and he panicked you have to stretch before swimming long distances like that. And when your legs do cramp lay on ur back while in the water
I don’t feel like they really covered the danger. Why did her son bob up and down asking for help? Couldn’t simply be because of steep water
Screw her loss. WHAT HAPPENED!
I watched this again… SHE LITERALLY LET HERSELF FALL OUT OF HER LIFE JACKET. nah, this fake as hell
MORE PEOPLE DIE TO MICROWAVES IN ONE YEAR.
2023-6-1979 2017 – 1979 = 38. that's ONE PERSON EVERY OTHER YEAR.
So he died from a cramp in the water? wtf
It’s real dumb there’s some life threatening things in at water the equipment that’s sitting in it has dangerous chemicals such as diesel fuel hydraulic fluid oil and coolant transmission fluid etc and it’s sharp don’t swim in dumb spots
There was a very popular lagoon near our beach house and it's water level would increase and decrease depending on rain fall. Somebody started building a dock with metal columns by sticking them up vertically in the water. Water when up and cover them, a teen dove in the water and hit one of them with his head, he died almost immediately. There were signs warning not to dive in that area but they ignored it. I guess they couldn't wait to get to the swimming area down the lagoon near the beach because it was far from their campground. I would never dive into any water that is not crystal clear.
It's sad because people think it will never happen to them.
How does a quarry have water in it? 😐
Why’d he die though. Was there a current or something or was he just exhausted
Nothing is ever worthless. It can always serve as a horrible example.
Just stay home with a helmet on.
So how did he die??
Very good of her to warn others!
I like that she is trying to save lives thatd good
You didnt tell me what was so dangerious about these.
So how did her son die? Was he caught on something? What was the specific danger about quarries?
If you're not a good swimmer don't go swimming
but how did he die? like what caused him to be “pulled” under?
I have been to the blue hole in NJ I would NEVER EVER SWIM THERE!!! I've fished I've had bon fires but NEVER HAVE I OR WOULD I EVER SWIM OR LET ANYONE I KNOW SWIM THERE IS A DAMN WATER TOMB
People came here after seeing thumbnail 😂😂😍
Okay so I’m so sorry for your loss but Okay so what happened? No one going to explain what exactly happened and how? All I know is he drowned? I’ve swam in many quarries many many times and I’ll tell you now, you need to be a strong swimmer or have protective floating gear. Simple as that
what's the actual danger of swimming into the middle quarry though? they decided to leave that piece of information out of the video?
seems like a sensationalised news story just to get ratings by spreading fear.
I love that video
I was expecting this to be about hitting submerged rocks but seems to be about a lack of swimming ability
sorry for her loss but that doesn’t mean the quarry is what kills people. It’s not knowing how to swim, not checking the depth etc.
Thankfully many people can enjoy the outdoors and water and have a greater ability and common sense than her son did, "Bro watch me swim across the entire lake" is probably how it happened, idiot got exhausted and drowned.
That's the same place in the IT movie right?
he died because he got a cramp?
I drowned before and I almost died so sad tho I wonder how it feels to be a mom and have a kid to die sad😢😢
Meningitis would have been the main killer
If you can't swim stay out of the water.
You should probably know how to swim well if you’re gonna try to swim across it
So it was the currents that killed him?
