Drone footage shows moment house collapses into river in Alaska, US

Spread The Viralist

Drone footage captured the moment a house collapsed into the Mendenhall River in Alaska after glacial floods. Record flooding occurred in the Alaskan capital of Juneau, after a glacial dam outburst – when trapped water escapes through cracks in thinning ice dams.

This phenomenon has increased around the world as a result of the climate crisis. The water level of Mendenhall Lake reached nearly 4.6 metres on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service, a 91cm rise over the previous record set in 2016.

  1. While billionaires are making yachts and rockets… instead of helping improving the world , the earth!! At least controlling the climate change if not to stop it… they’re all busy building rockets to go to Mars or?

  2. Glacial outburst floods would send walls of water 100s of feet high across the entire Northwestern US at the end of the last ice age. The Scablands were carved out by a glacial outburst flood. These types of floods can be mind boggling in scale and scope and power.

  3. To everyone saying some variation of "why did they build so close to the river", I lived in Juneau when those Condos were being built in 2018/2019 and the riverbank was nowhere near that close to that home and those condominiums. The fact that it's receded so much since then is honestly insane. The most recent satellite image of the area on google maps shows roughly 90 feet between the condo in the video now overhanging and the river bank. To think that, in less than 5 years, the river has eroded around 100 feet of bank on the opposite side of where the flow pressure should be is crazy.

  4. industrialization elites and bankers who have driven, controlled and produced massive polluters and pollutants all along, will voluntarily say "buy our green products and renewable energy equipment. Industrialized consumerism and hedon lifestylist money is precious to us."

  5. Who knew ice melts in the summer? Glaciers also move downwards towards the rivers they’re bound to break and cause flood or blockages eventually

  6. The climate emergency is coming for you, now.
Whether you think it will affect you or not.
I guarantee, it will get you sooner or later, and when does, you will angry at yourself that you didn't step up when we had the chance to stop it getting worse.

  7. The flooding in Juneau is a stark reminder of the dangers of climate change. Glacial outburst floods are becoming more common as glaciers melt, and they can cause widespread damage and destruction.

The drone footage of the house collapsing into the Mendenhall River is a harrowing sight. It is a reminder of the power of nature and the importance of taking climate change seriously.

The flooding in Juneau has also displaced residents and caused widespread damage to infrastructure. The city is still assessing the full extent of the damage, but it is clear that this is a major disaster.

The climate crisis is not just a future threat. It is a present danger that is already causing real harm. The flooding in Juneau is just one example of the many ways that climate change is impacting our world.

We need to take action now to address climate change. We need to reduce our emissions, invest in renewable energy, and protect our environment. The future of our planet depends on it.
