  1. Kamala Harris will be vesting the island to survey the damage and ensure federal assistance is delivered properly. FEMA will be there to provide assistance to survivors.

  2. Lahaina (and Maui) is my home away from home. It’s surreal to be watching this destruction happen from thousands of miles away (mainland). I’m obviously saddened by the loss of life. I’m speechless at the loss of historic sights and landmarks. The Baldwin house, the hotel, the prison, etc. history has been lost forever.

  3. Maui County, Hawaii's estimated 2023 population is 167,730

Around 1,000 people are still missing in the wildfires which have ravaged the Hawaiian island of Maui. Hawaii Governor Josh Green revealed on Thursday evening that hundreds are still unaccounted for, as he warned that the Aloha State is headed for its deadliest disaster in state history.

  4. Climate Change – when you live an active volcano, Pesky humans aren't to blame. I Hope no Muti-Millionaires where inconvenienced by this tragedy.

  5. Why do we call it wildfire, why not just fire????? that fire wasn't a brush fire so it couldn't be wild, it was a sobering fire that burn a town, not five acres of forest

  6. West Maui is ALWAYS dry. I've been traveling there for 20+ years. There is nothing new or unusual about the dry conditions. The 80+ miles per hour winds coming down the mountain blowing towards the town as a result of the hurricane passing to the south was unique. Additionally, Lahaina was filled with many older, wooden structures that were tinderboxes primed to burn.

  7. 3:05. Sugarcane was replaced by "invasive (non native) tall grass" , which caught fire. Interpretation: land became too valuable for future commercial development, so agriculture ceased.

  8. Holy Mother of God! This is absolutely incredible to watch. I can only imagine what it must be like to actual be there. My career was in fire and emergency services for over twenty-five years, but this is on a whole different level. Sending my heartfelt thoughts and prayers to everyone affected and to my brother firefighters who I know are busting their butt in the rescue and recovery efforts. God Bless you all 🙏

  9. Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring. There's your "climate change". I can't believe they are blaming the fires on "climate change".

  10. suspect USA China Japan EU Russia… these creeps are creating heat waves at my house everytime sun comes up…. good thing I have wind turbines to cool the house for cheap electric…
