  1. Road debris. My guess. You ran over a bolt or something that makes the noise then engages the ABS. Coolant the rear would have come around. It doesn't matter. You have proven your capabilities for years. in every car and in the worst conditions. You guys are safe!

    Lets get back on track.

  2. 100% tyerod broke, as you start going towards the wall, you can see the car lightly turning and the tire screech probably is the right side one loosing grip as the left side one went straight ! , would also explain the clunking noise before impact . its probably wear, since this is not race tyerods , they are pretty weak after a while doing high G's in corners , i would inspect them regularly or make them heavy duty .

  3. Glad you are both ok. Just wanted to mention that i saw something that you might find interesting. So watching through on if you look in the bottom left corner about half along the top of the inset video of the interior you can see that on the first two laps the track is dry. On lap three in the same place the track has a darker patch running into and around the corner, indicating that there is a fluid of sorts on the surface maybe highlighting why the abs flashes? Might be nothing but may be an explanation as to what happened.

  4. If you want to feel better, what i believe happen.
    – First, there is a short probability that there was a steering issue on wheel, suspension left broke or even breaking system issue(like enable force very different on each side – pressure topic on brake).
    – Second is physics, you are trying an exterior pass, making the trajectory longer, but raising the need of grip. Additionally you go brake and after you will observe that went gas, the steering wheel was already turned on right, plus gas, more force applied and surprise – no enough grip. I suppose if you kept the out the gas for couple more meters, you could avoid. But again, as you know too well the circuit and you do the things by feeling, i believe it was just bad luck…saliut and cheers.

  5. I only see that braking while cornering is leading to lock wheels on a wet surface. Porsche did the same thing but stopped braking and took the corner,u thought he s gonna brake more and kept pressing the pedal while entering the wet apex, nothing wrong but slow releasing the brake and downshift with smooth clutch would have stopped it from happening. Glad y all ok. ❤

  6. I think the Porsche is braking harder then you in the previous laps a this point of the track,(115kmh previous and 105kmh in this lap) and this harder braking makes the steering uncomfortable at this point, was to much and too late to get it steerd…
    Sorry for my english

  7. Steering Wheel twitched harsh to the left the moment it happened so something is amiss. This twitch did NOT happen in the other 2 shots he recorded.

  8. Misha, your speed went from 112 to 104 kph, when you were done with braking and let off the brake. That coupled with the flashing hazard lights could mean automatic collision detection made the car brake for you and it sent you into the wall.

  9. Could it be that the car had an automatic collision detection and it put the car into ABS because of the car in front? I had that happen on the road in a honda, was a bit unnerving because you know that you are not going to hit him but the car panics and brakes hard by itself… hate that feature.

  10. One thing I noticed straight away from the video of the crash, misha let go of the brake right before turning immediately to maximum, usually you'd want to keep a bit more load on the fronts so they'd grip and turn instead of understeering. Also it happened right on the camber transition into the turn.

  11. I have never been to the ring, never driven a GT 86 and never raced a car but fortunately this is YouTube so I can give my expert undisputed opinion. I will however refrain for now and glad you are both ok.

  12. A friend of mine had just crashed the same way a few month ago with the same tires I think on an e36. He also didn’t want that fast and just lost grip without any visible reason.

  14. As an armchair racer, do one not make an effort to straighten the front wheels in an effort to regain traction? (I do mountain biking, this is what I do when the front wheel is slipping) Still, in this situation it probably wouldn't do much different due to the Snap! noise, Steering wheel jolt, and following apparently zero front wheel traction. If the inner corner wheel is "the only good one" yer done for anyway.

  15. gt4 did brake to long on your line… what you could make it at your speed, but because of the hard braking you lose to much speed what made you go straight and not able to make the corner

  16. I had some strange behaviours with more modern sophisticated cars when the deactivated ABS/ESP is still somehow active in the background and is panicking. The car drives fine until a certain treshold is met and it completely misbehaves.

  17. Lesson of today,
Take in consideration that tires tempt to act differently in certain situation, stress, heat, usage and humidity.
    But sure…
That seems too much to take in consideration..
    But,
As long you’re pushing to competitional level,
You have to act like One.
