Terrible floods hit many cities in Fujian province. The heavy rains were caused by Typhoon Haikui. The residual forces of the storm even affected Hong Kong. Heavy rain overnight flooded city streets and some metro stations. Residents abandoned their cars, stranded on roads that turned into raging rivers. Xiamen, a port city in Fujian province, has been pounded by rain for three days. Heavy rains flooded low-lying houses and roads. Even cars floated through the streets like boats. More than 50 reservoirs have exceeded flood limits in the province. Floodwaters rushed through the streets, overturning motorcycles, and trash cans and drowning cars. More than 80,000 people were evacuated from their homes. The downpours were caused by Typhoon Haikui.
