4. I’ve visited Morocco twice – Marrakesh and Tangier, so
   my thoughts are with you during this awful destruction
   I was staying in Kathmandu in 2015 when the second of two over 7.2 earthquakes struck. Fortunately the building I was in was well built – I was on the sixth floor having lunch at the time. Being in an earthquake is not an experience I would wish on anyone especially as you never know when a powerful aftershock will happen
   Maybe both these countries should stop kowtowing to the capitalist West and abolish prohibitions against use and sale of cannabis

8. I am supposed to be there next month for the WB and IMF annual conference. It is heartbreaking to see this tragedy happened. I probably have to cancel the trip to Marrakech. But hope the wound will recovered soon.

20. This is terrible. But I don't get how they can say 1000 people died when this only happened yesterday.

22. I noticed right of way, no metal bars in the concrete. None, no rebar you get what you pay for I guess. It's a shame that safety is never a priority when they build these structures that will hold people and their lives. Maybe they will remember this and do better.

25. While 6.8 is a large earthquake, there shouldn't be this level of destruction. Clearly, these houses weren't built with earthquakes in mind. This is no different than what happened in Turkey. Hopefully leadership demands that any new construction follows the latest practices to mitigate the damage from an earthquake.
