14. I ran an animal rescue in South Florida with my father when I was a kid. (I'm 52 now.) I would like to get back into it, but I have no idea how to get the calls, and the cooperation with authorities. I'm assuming I just go out to them, and present myself in a professional manner, and explain what I offer to do. But it can't be that simple can it?

There’s nothing like holding a hummingbird in the palm of your hands-or rather letting one rest in your palm-it’s happened several times to me-they’ve flown into my screened porch and cannot seem to find their way out(we have 4 feeders at all times during the season & over 400 feeding in the course of the day); when they run out of steam trying to find the exit, I cup my hand around them, bring them to the exit, open my hand & as they are invariably exhausted, they sit calmly in my palm while catching their wind as I speak softly to them-they often give my hand a lick with their tongue and cock their tiny head from side to side listening to my voice…a few times I’ve had them sit in my open palm for nearly fifteen minutes before taking flight-just a wonderful experience-each time it happens I feel privileged and blessed❤️
