5:50 the cammer was keeping a perfect 2 seconds behind the lorry… does France not have a 2 second rule?
I giggled when you commented about the branch not observing. Thanks 😂
6:34 anyone who drives a lorry like that should get an instant driving ban and lose their job, I hope this is not a common problem tho worrying to see its the 2nd time in not so long we have seen this type of lorry driver, that white pickup near the start of the video was particularly awful aswell, lucky he did cause a collision there, crazy. 8:55 Love that, love funfair trucks and loads they are always so interesting and often really nice looking and painted trucks I may be wrong but think funfair and circus truck drivers have a special license or allowance for that, I may be wrong tho but had heard that somewhere once
Couldn't help noticing the yellow box on the side of the dangerous car in clip 1.
Private hire strikes again!
Ashley, what are lorry drivers supposed to do?
There's times where traffic is never ending, is a lorry driver expected to sit at a junction until 1am at night when the traffic clears up so they can emerge without slow the flow of traffic?
You should not blame the Tesla driver, they were probably on Auto Pilot and the AI was doing as you said, using all the available road surface. What problem could theer be? 😊
I work nights for the council driving round Leeds…. I always say driving at night has more potential hazards. As not many folk pay attention
There are so many piss poor drivers on the road
ASHLEY should do a comments series of vids as even when he describes what should happen, people still deny.
And as for FB comments (the current articles about wales 20mph zones for example) are hilarious
Please, if anyone reads this, and lives in Britain, do whatever it takes to put forward a request for Ashley to receive an OBE.
IF anyone deserves one this man does.
If a banker can get one shouldn't someone that does as much for road safety as Ashley does?
As for the Showman's vehicle. As long as aren't cargo haulers and have some kind of living accommodation inside, as in caravan or camper trailer. Then the number of trailers does not matter, however according to uk regulations Showman's vehicles cannot exceed 22 meters (72 feet in total length.
7:00 the HGV cadre does appear to be gaining a lot of murderous psychopaths lately. I don't know why. Starting to think that there should be a psych/attitude training and assessment as part of the C license across the UK and EU because people are losing their heads when in control of near unstoppable forces. Pilots would be hauled over coals for any such attitude and they job, while technical, doesn't hold nearly as much chance of conflict. IMO higher license cat should = higher person specification, not just passing the additional theory and prac test.
7:57 Seriously? And he's carrying gasoline!
Driving: a frustrated human if ever their was one 😁 and those cyclists, free-radicals.. 🤪 best to expect anything on the road then nothing will p!ss you off 👍
One minor point regarding the incident at 4:22 in Kendal is that the place where the car moved out into the oncoming traffic used to be where two-way traffic became one-way traffic. I suspect this is why this person was where he was, even though this system did become two-way a number of years ago.
The arrow that Ashley pointed out used to be exactly where it is now round the corner. I suspect this is someone who hasn't driven in Kendal for a long time, and wasn't aware of the change. This is why, when I drive down this same stretch of road in the same direction as the driver recording the video, I always take it slow around that same corner.
1:16 He's just seen his wife going the other way with another bloke; she's having an affair, and who can blame her?
Please note, I might be making this up…
On the first lesson I do with students, I show them the old:
Paris
in the
the spring
And explain to them that we only have a Moon sized area of vision that's full colour and full focus, with our brain fooling us into believing that we know what's going on (and that this lack of knowledge about what's happening is something that Magicians and Special Forces utlitise).
I also explain about saccades and how we spend 40 minutes to an hour every day, blind,* the acronym "SMIDSY" (Sorry Mate, I Didn't See You), and give them various examples of people missing the obvious, including a girl turning right out of a junction. I asked her what was coming from the left and she said, "nothing". She had glanced, but only very briefly.
There had been a police car with no siren, but lights flashing. She didn't believe me, so we turned round and went back past the school entrance where they had turned in. There were 2 police cars there, but if they had gone before we had turned round, she still wouldn't have believed me.
* It's the sort of thing I come across in New Scientist, but I read about this one in an examiner's magazine; they can have some fascinating articles, such as the one about how large a gap one should leave between the vehicle in front in various situations.
Why was the white seat not in the inside lane ? The italian hgv the car was wrong when the is overtaking don't doodle before committing to the overtake !!! Hgv going up a hill needs all the speed he can carry DONT HANG ABOUT typical car driver doesn't understand their action have consequences.
Thr Tesco tanker driver will be in a lot of trouble if you report that. Tesco are shit hot on driver standards. As an ex tesco driver…
White pickup man what can you say. He clearly has no sense of what he looks like. Two buses with no doubt an sizeable audience watching him being an arse. Well done.
1:20 With stupid American pickups comes stupid American attitudes
Why is that Lorry tailgating them like that?
(lorry gets close enough to read the writing on the front)
Oh, because he's French… makes sense now.
9:27 just normal Tesla driving by the looks
1:06 The vest wearing pick up truck driver….. we all know what their attitudes and temperament are like!!!
4:25 <—- Ad Skip button
The behaviour by the French lorry driver at 6:30 is sadly all to familiar – I experienced just the same behaviour on the A34 two days ago.
The VW car that pulls infront of the dashcammer, he had his blinker on for quite some time already.
So he was hoping to take the gap that was to his right.
Then mr dashcammer decides he wants to overtake the vw.
And then he closes the gap.
Who is at fault here? The VW driver or the dashcammer (clip at 8:24)
In my opinion the dashcammer.
Could have moved out sooner after the white car on the right had overtaken…
Could have seen the blinker and what was about to happen. Shadows on the road tell a lot.
And so yeah, if i was in the VW, i probably would have also still went ahead. He was clearly waiting for the white car to overtake him so he could move out.
The dashcammer is traveling with the same speed as the white car on the right.
Almost no gap when he moves over to the right if he were to continu like that.
Agreed, the VW could have moved over to the right to overtake before the white car was there.
But he maybe wanted to be nice to the other driver and let them overtake first.
Now mr dashcammer who was behind him suddenly also goes to the right lane.
I think the dashcammer is at fault just as much.
He could have anticipated that this was about to happen.
that white pickup?????
It will only get worse.
More and more i.diots are allowed to hit the roads.
PS: the guy on the bike…. i could not stop laughing when he kept going through what clearly was a heck of a lot of wet mud, and which obviously makes the road slippery.
And to see him fall, that was funny
And that lorry driver that honks the horn after he almost hits the car….. he should be stopped by police, shown the footage and asked the question: WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN A LORRY?
Hate to say it but, with roads being as busy as they currently are, there HAS to be some "give and take" in some situations.
On a busy road, for example, a lorry waiting to exit a side-road without causing a vehicle on the main road to slow down could be waiting for hours before a suitable gap appears.
When a lorry exits a side-road somewhere up ahead, it can become a non-event if other drivers ease off the throttle and give the lorry space but a lot of drivers will just keep their foot on the floor, drive right up to the lorry and then sound their horn and/or flash their lights.
The lorry driver at 7:45 probably thinks the cyclist should be using the shared footpath/cycle lane . And he's correct.
From 5:50 + I was the "cammer" in this one. I wrote and complained to the logistics company; I got nothing back. I think I'll forward them this YouTube link. There needs to be more accountability and consequences for this kind of aggressive behavior. What Ashley is doing to promote better standards of driving and driver/rider attitude for safer roads is highly commendable. I hope your channel and others like it thrive and grow even bigger, Ashley.
"Is this actually legal?" @9:10
The answer is a Wolf of Wall Street quote… "Absolutely fucking not"
2:31 I get this all the time around me. Start thinking about pulling out to pass a parked car (well in advance usually) and someone pulls out into the opposite direction. You need to check both ways people!!
Are Tesla drivers better drivers than the rest of us? Nno
At 5:00, well done to the cyclist, noticing the driver freeze with indecision, his gesture helped a lot to get them through before the second barrier trapped them.
Yes the combination of three trailers is legal. The prime mover is considered to be a "showmans vehicle" it can pull up to three trailers.
That truck was towing a small town behind him 😂
Didn't watch – ads too long
Look up the rules for showmans vehicles. Basically the authorities daren't make them fall in line with modern ways so they let them do what they want so long as they do it slowly.
@9:25 "Bad, Bad, Teslaman Can't Drive"
9:12 It's the Ninky Nonk! 🤣
I find this situation arises most on long drives, or when spending long time behind the steering wheel.
"This tree didn't observe properly"
That had me… haha
10:46 what's that? another cyclist jumping a red light? hmmmm. smh
9:13 I don't know. Is it?
8:05 I'm sure I recognise this road. It's in King's Lynn and there is the big hospital just down the road.
2:28 recumbents are fast, very fast but you'd never get me on one. being seen is important to me.
