Freediving Disaster in the Deep Ocean | The Last Dive for Audrey Mestre

Spread The Viralist

Audrey Mestre was a French World Record-setting Freediver. Born into a family of snorkeling and scuba diving enthusiast, Audrey was swimming by age 2 and already a seasoned scuba diver by age 13. She met and eventually married Francisco ‘Pipin’ Ferreras, a legendary Cuban freediver, who liked to push the limits. Audrey began training Audrey in No Limits freediving. Her first No Limits record dive was for the French nationals at a depth of 80 meters or 263 feet. Just 6 weeks after Tanya Streeter’s world record dive, Pipin & Audrey headed to the Dominican Republic for Audrey to begin training. On October 12th, 2002, Audrey Mestre attempted to break the No Limits world record by diving 564 feet in a single breath of air. It was the last dive of her life.

  1. " they got a glimpse of her in her swimsuit and invited her along"
.. did some perv actually say that that's why he invited her? Or is this conjecture? It's really inappropriate and a dismissive of women as people.

  2. So very sad, she was a beautiful and talented athlete. Why they didn’t check her equipment better and get a better team of rescue divers. Her husband is responsible I feel and I think he was very jealous of her success. RIP sweet lady.

  3. Husband killed her…..fairly obvious. Jealous, insecure, little spirit.
Should have gone to jail for life.
Hope she haunts him every night of his bald, ugly-faced existence..

  4. The part where the secondary safety diver "left due to thinking Audrey was breathing from the oxygen tank" didn't make any sense, because they would KNOW she COULD NOT do that.
