For generations of Americans, food titans like Henry Heinz, Milton Hershey, John and Will Kellogg, C.W. Post and the McDonald brothers have literally been household names, but you don’t know their stories. Before they were brand names, they were brilliant, sometimes ruthless, visionaries who revolutionized food and changed the landscape of America forever. This miniseries event will tell the fascinating stories of the people behind the food that built America – those who used brains, muscle, blood, sweat and tears to get to America’s heart through its stomach, and along the way built cities, invented new technologies and helped win wars.

  1. sometimes i think things get ignored on purpose to see the outcome. i know that's a morbid thing to say, but i feel I'm right. not all disasters, just some might be overlooked to see the cornage.

  2. 5:08 I am still dumified to this day as to why multiple loads of gravel would need to be placed on a bridge that needs to be repaired, on a bridge that literally has NO GRAVEL in it's construction at all! And that the loads were "oddly" placed directly over the bowing gussets. It literally makes no sense!
I had family members that crossed that bridge literally 20 minutes before it collapsed, so this event is very close to me, and I've always felt something was fishy about it. Especially when the failing gussets were known about, and ignored.

  3. It’s gut wrenching just to see all of those cars drop into that river all at once then seeing them trapped in the rubble it’s just such a horrible sight

  4. My dad was not a first responder on the scene of the collapse but he later the same day helped save the lives of many people still trapped under the rubble

  5. The fact that there was no redundancies in the bridge design in case the truss plates fail, shows what a very poor design it was, there should always be two or three redundancies that have to all fail in order for a structure or a system to fail.

  6. The 2 weeks before it went down, and I was on the metro bus was shaking badly. We all were scared. And yelled get us off this bridge collapse to be. On August 1, 2007.

  7. They sent cops in twin cities and fired depts in twin cities to the bridge collapse and 1 was my cousin Greg Goggins cousin of mine later heard I was injured in the bridge. He was mad 😡 at first time he was a bit upset by hearing I was on it.

  8. I was just about to play my record release show about 2 hours west of the twin cities. I was due to go on in 20 minutes. They had the collapse on the TV in the bar. We huddled around thinking “this can’t be possible”.

  9. This was during the Summer when we had Summer School practicing for the Grad Exam, Vacation Bible School, Bob Barker's FAREWELL after 50 years in Television, Mr. McMahon faked his OWN Death and Led to the REAL Death of Chris Benoit, his Wife Nancy, and their son Daniel through Back 2 School 2007.

  10. How many years has that small tool been out that is made to break car windows?
I keep one in my car and I purchased one for each member of my family. Those of you that have that fear of not being able to open the door under water or get the windows open should definitely have one.

  11. The sound of failure? I didn't know that had a particular sound. Not a good way to make someone understand what it was, to actually be there when it happened. Poor choice of words.

  12. I was born in 2008 and the very first time I heard about this was my mom that told me this. Then my mom keeps talking about it every time we across the bridge. Now every time we across the bridge, I will always remember about this and will put me into shock because seeing the bride collapse (this video) will shock me. And the fact that it happened 1 year before I was born is also kinda shocking.

  13. I remember being 10 when this happened.
My dad always crossed it for work every day and it made my mom scared of bridges since it was so close to home.
