Hydrogen Fuel Cells were supposed to save the auto industry from climate change, and promised no harmful emissions from the tailpipe, just pure water. So what happened? Why hasn’t the hydrogen car taken over the industry in the years since? And what future does this amazing technology have? Well, it’s complicated.

Could the exhaust water be recycled into an efficient electrolysis to produce more hydrogen which can be sent back to the H2 tank?
Atascadero? This is a Spanish word that means "place where things or you get or are stuck". Seems appropriate if you drive there 😂.
Hydrogen had its Chance many years ago, and they fucked it up.
Love to see this in my feed less than a month after several manufacturers are announcing hydrogen cars.
A lithium mine takes TEN YEARS to prepare. Car manufacturers make money by moving units, not by having long waiting lists.
Hydrogen is everywhere. Literally.
I cant believe anyone is this stupid to think 'hydrogen' vehicles can work
Electric took ower 100 years, to get popular, and have failed many times.
So hydrogen is what, about 57 years old, give it a chance, an it will come back even better, it just need time, and money
What if hydrogen be made by solar energy ?
5:10 ct has gas stations 😢
Bro can we just chill for a second please 🙏 the hydrogen cars have not been invented fully so you could be wrong so just chill ok 👌
Man said 32 for 11 gallons…. Bruh its like 60 rn
I feel like hydrogen vehicles are more suitable in large trucks form, as they hugely decrease refilling time.
I'll stick with my ICE until something superior comes out.
I don't know, seems really more like a lobbying thing than a rational discourse. We should stray away from gas, and try to combine the advantages of hydrogen and EVs. Next gen hybrids…
for those who dont know. Pressurized Hydrogen is extremely explosive. good luck living a crash in one
Man just forgot how horrible for the environment electric car batteries are
For personal use, EV's might be enough for most people. But don't forget that trucks still use diesel in huge volumes. It's hard to imagine electric trucks being a viable option for green transportation of goods and materials over large distances and hydrogen is a much more realistic option in that respect. If we already need infrastructure to provide hydrogen for trucks, you might as well use it for cars as well. Just as we do with gas stations nowadays.
top speed in electric cars, to me, doesn't say that much. If you actually drive at that speed you'll be charging every ten minutes
The dealers in my city can't get enough Hydro cars in stock. They are selling like hotcakes. EV's are a thing of the past.
What if we make normal fuel better
some things that need to be talked about is the recycleability of the cells compared to li-ion, also the minning of the raw materials used, cause otherwise theoretically the cost problem is solvable
It must starting before we can speak about ‘Flopping’!
Yea, hydrogen isn’t cheaper than gasoline anymore.
Why can’t people make their own hydrogen? Isn’t it easy to make?
Elon Musk did big contribution to kill the hydrogen cars
It's dead; not sure why people can't accept the simple fact electric is far, far, superior. It is over, get the fuck over it; the LFP batteries are coming next, improved, way safer, better range, do much better in cold weather.
Battery powered cars are twice as efficient as hydrogen cars? Cool, but which car can we dependably make tens of millions of for the foreseeable future?
He left out the percentage of electricity lost in the power lines and the whole electrical grid.
Yeah, good point, however you forgot to point out that producing the batteries of electric cars are problematic too.
Is everyone forgetting that hydrogen vehicles need batteries also, look at the first 2 seconds of the video it shows the battery pack in the hydrogen vehicle. Hydrogen is the petroleum supply chains last attempt at staying relevant. It takes lots of electricity to produce hydrogen, you need to safely store that hydrogen at the manufacturer, then transport it to service stations all over, then store it on site, then you fill your tank. Car converts hydrogen to electricity, it can only generate a small amount of power in a constant supply so it stores it in a big battery in the car. So we have hydrogen generation, supply, sales and conversion just to charge a battery, when you could just plug in to an ev charger and charge at home. It's because of big oil realising they are done. Why has Toyota never gone pure EV, and never will, because big oil realising the end is near and placed all their bets with Toyota and paid them to develop a hydrogen car. No other company is pushing hydrogen.
China is the reason Hydrogen cars will not happen as China holds most of the worlds lithium. Hydrogen can be manufactured anywhere in the world so it is not in the interests of China to promote this when they will have so much control of where lithium is made available. China has planned this control for over 20 years and in the last 3 years has manufactured most of the worlds electric cars and nearly all the lithium used in batteries.
my hybrid works well …..
Answer:
Big Oil Business. Just check the history. You have to be truly foolish to believe otherwise.
If a hydrogen car give 6k miles on a single fill I will still use it and now toyota investing even more in hydrogen products
I am too bold to assume that if you use radiated water for energy conversion, can it solve the problem of pollution and energy?
I think this is a big think to talk about, considering that you still have to burn fossils to EVs which is actually more emissions compared to Hydrogen powered vehicles, I think that hydrogen powered vehicles, are really going to be popularly too, especially here in Africa, instead of burning fossils to produce electricity, we have an alternative of using solar power which is so much efficient in the continent than any other place in the world.
