Hello. I have a problem I'm trying to get help with. I have a 2008 Chevy HHR LT and it has been overheating to the point where the Guage on the dash goes clear to the max as far as itbcan go and if you continue to drive (I live a long way from town) the Guage will drop real fast, like immediately to the lowest point on the Guage. And stay there. I have looked and looked for a replacement cap for this radiator
Cant seem to find one😅 anywhere. Meanwhile, my plastic radiator cap has gotten so hot that it has fused to my radiator threads. How do I get this plastic cap off? And more importantly, where can I find the correct cap for this 2008 Chevy HHR? I cant find one anywhere. Even the chevy dealer only has the plastic cheap caps. I don't want to go through this again. I am at my wits end trying to find a replacement cap. Please please pretty please help me. I can't afford to take this to a dealer for this.
Nasty radiator cap
Thank alot
When a man starts a video with Gday, you know hes an ok bloke.
My 2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara’s radiator cap failed. I used one from a Toyota. Worked now it doesn’t. Can’t we use just any radiator cap? Has to match the vehicle specifications?
Where is the radiator cap located on a 2003 ford tarus
Good quick overview, though I had to rewind a few times to understand what 'weakest link file' was..:P J/K, hence I'm from CA and had no suspicious of my cooling system, but I removed the radiator cap and see no spring or washer! I knew that wasn't correct but I am perplexed how long it's been like that or how it happened. One guy said he hoped the part isn't in my radiator or elsewhere – I think the hole is too small on my Toyota, but I'm going to check again as I just bought a replacement – I'm glad you mentioned how long they last, as I'm beyond that, so it's time. Thumbs up!
Mate, i could tell a story to my question..
But first things first..
"Why is the tubes, radiator cap look like someones been making cappuccino in my engine bay..?"
Did my mech fail me when he replaced a new radiator..? He is getting old, like my 2004 Honda..
I can't say what i think may be true, cos I'm only 30% know how mech, but the line is dirty or mix of coolants.. ..and that he's too old..😅
will this cause excessive pressure in the upper rad hose?
Hi I replaced my radiator with an all aluminium radiator which came with a 19psi cap; but the max psi for the cooling system on my 2001 Dodge Ram v8 van is 18psi. The 18psi pressure cap can't fit the new radiator because the opening is deeper and the 19psi cap is bigger. Would it do any harm to use the 19psi cap that came with the radiator or would it cause any problems with other parts of the cooling system like the pump-seals or hoses?
I feel like the cap is the most overlooked overheating culprit
Thanks for the help
Hi Possibly you can help this Aussie -The other day I drove my car for more than a week, when stop at shopping centre RED Temperature light appeared on my Dashboard I checked the Reservoir completely empty also the radiator took about a litre & half of water. I did not drive again until yesterday and Red light appeared Radiator took over 2 litres of water. Got the Road Side Assistant out he said he does not think its the head casket as the car starts with no problem, he could not see any leaks under neath the motor / on the ground. How do I put the Coolant in the Radiator, if there is still some water inside and do I have to mix the coolant. I have a 4 litre of Distilled water. Please help no $$$ I'm a 74 year old Pensioner. If the radiator cap is cool while the upper and lower hoses are hot . Is that also an indication the cap isn’t working?
I believe my radiator cap leaked out all my coolant 😭
Can I ask a question any one can answer pls I have dodge Charger 2012 v6 I have problems my coolant overflowing on the pipe with out overheating. Any solution pls help me.
My car is 2019 Jetta 1.4 , in -14 it’s not produce enough heat to warm inside the car and gauge still remain at zero but when I start driving gauge and heat both going up , any idea which one one work
Inlet valve (the small one) failure recently happened to me. Collapsed radiator hose due to the coolant contracting as it cools.
I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with my cooling system at the moment. I squeezed the large hose that connects to the radiator cap and it hisses. Is it suppose to or is it supposed to be an air tight seal?
