Hey,
Can you please help me. I have a big problem with my external hard drive. It doesn't work on my computer even after doing all of your solutions. If I try to initialize the disk it says that "The request failed due to a fatal device hardware error" and it's new so it doesn't have any kind of harm done to it, I've been regularly taking care of it. And if i try to initialize it with GPT then it says the same. I bought the hard drive like two months ago and it was new, yet it didn't work. I tried putting it into another computer and it worked fine. Yesterday I went to school and tried it there. It didn't work. I tried many many solutions from creating a partition to formatting it to anything I could possibly do and suprisingly it still doesn't work. I don't know what to do. Should I return it and get another one? I tried that too and they've tried putting it into their computer and it worked fine. They said that i maybe needed to update my windows since i've had Windows 8.1 at that time and I updated it to Windows 10. Unfortunately I can't run Windows 11 because my computer doesn't have the requirements to run it. I've tried everything. Could you please help me out?
None of them worked… Im sad…
Bravo!
Very nice tutorial
I just bought an external harddrive for my old PC since and I plugged it in and it didn't show up… but thanks to this video It shows up and I can use it to transfer files.
I love you man thank you so much this helps me a lot and the simple explanation is easily understood, keep up the good work man and thank you for helping people in need
$50😢 sounds nice😊interested in the give away
When I tried this with mine, it was unallocated, I went through the process of setting a new simple volume, I clicked finished and it said virtual disk manager. The device is not ready. Why is this happening ? Help !
what should i do when it doesn't appear in my disk management even though i plugged it in
Darn. My HDD is showing up in disk management, but but the only options I can click on when I right click at “delete volume” and “help.”
Niiice, it worked
Mine says “Fatal Error” does that mean it’s unrepairable? 😢
Fantastic advise after hours of trying thank you
thanks man
worked with me
you are great
Very informative and crisp.
However I encountered a different issue while plugging in my hard drive from windows 10 and then using it on windows 7, I got a message to scan and fix but I was short of time so I ignored the message. The next time I plugged in my drive it didn't appear of either of the laptops .
But when we go to diskmgmt the disk appears but no other operation is possible on it.
Kindly enlighten. The hard disk is a 2tb disk from seagate
why it doesnt apperar on disk management
sometimes you just have to assign a drive letter for the drive. so see that first.
Thanks, first solution did the trick
What would you do if the external disk does not appear as usual but I can see it on Disk Management, I see the pop out window to initialize disk, I click on any option and I get this massage that says: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)?
Hi I have a 1 TB WD Elements external HD where I used to store my life. It is no longer showing up. WHen I go to "disk management" and right click on the unallocated space the "new simple volume" option is grayed out. What does it mean? Is there a solution or am I screwed?
Thank you so much for this video! i have been scratching my head for days on end trying to get my Ext HD to recognise. . . you sir are a Saint!
I love you so much. I was so confused because my brand new hard drive was not showing up even though it seemed alright when I first plugged it in earlier. I spent half the day trying to figure out what was wrong since it registered with my USB port but did not appear under devices and drives. This was the first video and solutions that I actually found helpful. So thank you.
So far three have failed after saving data. That's scam technology.
I just had THE WORST experience with recoverit. The app allows you to scan your drive for free, see the files it found, purchase the license, and then recover the files. So I did that. I scanned for THIRTY SIX HOURS to find the files on my drive then paid to upgrade and recover them. But the app would not authenticate the purchase. Support said “sorry, you will have to restart the app and scan again”. Well that’s not how the app said it functions! They refused to refund me. Save your time and money. Bring your drives and sd cards to a shop.
❤❤interested ❤❤
Thank you!!!
I hope someone can help me here. The Problem i have is that my external HDD shows up in the device manager but only for 1 or 2 min and disappears and in the Disk Management window only a few seconds and then it's gone. All the data recovery programs i can't use because it won't show up. Yesterday i was working fine and i was transferring data. I hope really someone can help me here. I just need my files, man.
thank you!
thanks. i just bought a brand new disk drive and i was trying to format it to fat32 but failed and deleted some important file that the driver needs to run
Very informative
I got an error that says "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)."
Avoid Samsung SDD like the plague.
My photos have been encrypted by virus, can you help me to decrypt them. Glad to get your connection details.
Help! I purchased an external hard drive (Maxtor 40GB) several years ago when 40 GB was huge! I have never used it because no matter what computer I plugged it into, it didn't show up. I found it in a closet and then watched your video. I followed your instructions for the Windows+X key and went to Disc Management. On that screen I have four partitions for "Disc 0" , One partition for "Disc 1" and then the "C" Drive. All are "Simple" and " Basic". The Disc 0 and Disc 1 are 100% free space so I assume that means that is the external drive. (maybe???) Under Status the Disc 0 first partition "Status" is the EFI system partition. All the other partitions in Disc 0 and Disc 1 are 'Recovery" under status. I have no "File system" associated with any of them them. The "C" Drive has NTFS associated with it.
Since I don't really know what I am doing, I assume the Disc 0 and Disc 1 partitions need to be associated with a File system in order for my Dell laptop to recognize them. I don't want to mess up my laptop so I am checking this first. (Note: when I plug the cable into all 3 of my ports, I get the windows ding like it is recognized and the other ding when it is disconnected. I also have an option to 'remove' external disc safety near the task bar.
Am I safe to proceed with trying to assign NTSF to the file system for those partitions on Disc 0 and Disc 1? I hope this all make sense to you!!!
Note: I checked the Device Manager and it is recognized there. Under properties, It is "working properly" and the driver is up to date
Update a few days later: I used the Windows+X and went back to Disc management without my external hard drive plugged in. I was able to determine that the external hard drive is actually Disc1 I am glad I didn't mess with Disc 0.
I was able to assign a letter to the unallocated part of the Disc 1 using the wizard and now it shows up in File manager. However the largest part of the drive (37.27 GB) is 'Healthy" but has no letter assigned. When I right click to 'change letter and path" as you instructed, and I did with the unallocated section, all my options except "Delete volume" and "help" are greyed out.
I tried to right click on the Disc 1 in the top section but all my options except "delete volume" and "help" are grayed out. I clicked on delete volume and it looks like I am deleting the partition. Is that what I have to do?
I was able to check the driver in device manager for the small partition that I allocated and named. However, there is no option there for the 37.27 partition.
What do I do?
Good day sir.. Pls I have a problem.. I was using my external hard drive on Logic Pro x and it mistakingly fell down now it take extra long period to load and I when I try copy files away from the damaged hard drive into a new one it won't copy. my Logic Pro x projects will load but it skips and it doesn't play correctly pls what can I do
It Helped me recover 2 Hard Drives. But 1 of the drive, in disk management, when i right click on it. The only possibility i can click on is ''Help''. I can't select any other options. I'm clueless if there's another solution i can apply before throwing this HDD in the Trash. xD
i love you
The first option worked for me. Thanks
drive management is not showing up, what to do?
thank you very much. That helps a lot. You're very reliable 😊😊
