  1. The amount of power that publications such as CR had before the internet came around is difficult to explain to newer generations.

There was no easy way to get opinions of other "normal" folks, no forums, customer reviews, etc.

We trusted the reviews and opinions of CR because we believed them to be acting in the interest of average consumers, and thought their testing would be impartial and honest.

The fact that they were driven by an agenda, pushing certain products over others, even against what would've been better for the end consumer, was realized only much later.

Now, with a world of information at our fingertips, one can source various review. In the long run CR hurt itself, by eroding trust in them.

  2. I wonder if this is the reason the EV6 gets a consumer reports rating if 86 for reliability, despite having ICCU issues and recalls, charging problems, heat pump problems, coolant leak problems and a whole host of other issues and the Tesla model 3 and model Y with just about zero issues and only 1 recall which was fixed with a free software update that was sent to all the cars wirelessly while they were charging at home overnight, gets a consumer reports reliability score sitting around the mid 50’s. Makes you wonder.

  3. This vehicle was never meant to be driven at high speeds and flipped as a consequence. It was a highly competent and frugal, reliable true 4×4 that with minimal care lasted long.

  4. You should have included the Suzuki gypsy which had served for a long time in India army Indian off roders says there is no place where gypsy could not reach

  5. ny dad had one of these, in my country it called suzuki Katana, nice simple reliable car, cheap to maintain, good gas mileage, slow as heck but fun as f. the fun thing about this F10 engine is when you snap timing belt, the valve doesnt smash the piston, which is cool.

The Car that I use to learn how to drive properly.

  6. Here in Indonesia, there is another version of the Jimney/Samurai also exist. Rather than being a 4×4 its only 4 x 2 or FWD. But yet, it has the same body as the Jimney/samurai. In Indonesia this special version is called the Suzuki Katana. I know in the Europe or another part in the world the name Suzuki Katana exist also, but that's a motorcycle name similarly. It has huge communities and a ton of support in Indonesia. Sadly it's last produced in 2001. A lot of clean Katana Builds are made by drivers and it's pretty clean if you ask Me. CMIIW

  7. This is exactly why in the USA don't get any Suzukis but fortunately we get them in Australia including the Jimny our son has one and we have a Baleno they sell well in Australia and the Jimny is so popular there is a waiting list hence second hand Jimnys are worth more than new ones
