Megyn Kelly TODAY welcomes Jessica Ballandby, Justin Blackburn and Carson Miller, all of whom traveled to Mexico to save money on weight-loss surgery. Now they have filed suit over the results. Shortly after her surgery, “I looked down at the bed and it looked it was a murder scene,” Ballandby says.

These 3 People Went To Mexico For Weight-Loss Surgery And Now They Regret It | Megyn Kelly TODAY
source
STOP BLAMING AN ENTIRE COUNTRY ! These people were irresponsible for not doing their homework, me and my relatives have had several surgeries in Mexico with GREAT doctors, and everything went perfect 💯
People have a very cavalier attitude towards surgery. Any surgery has the risk of death. And the risks go on from there.
You pay all this money to insurance and they are 100% scammers!!!
how about do your research on after care before getting a serious surgery. Im getting mine in Tijuana next week and I've done extensive! research on my doctor, location and even reviews. This can happen anywhere . Always do your research.
I can understand going for weight-loss surgery when you're 100 pounds or more overweight as it must be so frustrating trying to lose that. Just losing 30 pounds took me like 6/7 months
I’m curious what clinics and doctors they used? I know many people who’ve went and had no issues. I know it doesn’t happen to everyone but would be nice to know where they went
The blame is from USA, they give them junk food to their population to make them gain weight! The service in USA is not only expensive, but many times inhuman! These people were definitely so picky to choose a good place in Mexico!
I had gastric bypass at a reputable US hospital, NYU Langone. Why anyone would go to a foreign country for such delicate surgery, I can’t understand. Reputable programs insist on a 6 mo counseling, of education, psychological tests and counseling, and requisite 6 mos of medically supervised weight loss. A battery of blood chemistry tests and an endoscopy. This is not a cosmetic procedure. And its a lifelong commitment to nutritional and conscientious food habits. Insurance will pay if you have secondary morbidity such as high blood pressure or diabetes. You should do a program about reliable not foolish medical practices.
There are risks to all surgery.
Really? They regretted having invasive surgery in a third world country with someone who may have bought their degree. Amazing
So grateful I had my bariatric surgery done here in Orange County, CA. Doctor Russo is the best! 🥳
Come on people who goes to Mexico for surgery.
You have a choice pay to join a diet plan and make a commitment ir pay the full price in the US. They could have saved or taken out a loan.
My insurance covered mine 100%
She’s messed up without the surgery.
You need to understand surgery yourself.
The US media still lies their teeth out about Medical treatments in Mexico.
There are good surgeons and bad surgeons.
But, this is no difference in risk, except that the US care is ungodly expensive and impersonal.
Don’t be fooled. The media has made big business on dogging the beautiful country of Mexico.
There seems to be a very biased way of saying things here. The “Mexican” doctor. In “Mexico.” Across the “boarder.” There are tons of malpractice cases here in the states and they never say: “the European doctor, or the middle eastern doctor, or the black doctor.” Do you see what I’m saying? Mexico has really good medical professionals but just like the US they also have morons behind the scalpel.
Her last comment “there’s a reason we have all these lawyers in AMERICA” 😂 stop it lady. “There’s a reason we have lawyers” would have sufficed 🙄 and yes there’s a huge reason because of all the crimes in AMERICA. I could go on
Moral of the episode, if you can take away from the biased comments, be very careful where you choose to get medical treatment.
In all these videos complaining about surgeries gone wrong in Mexico, am I the only person that's noticed they never really mention the suppose medical center involved in these medical mal practice 😒 it's a strategy to create fear to keep money in the US. Yes, sometimes things go wrong but not only in Mexico, alot of patient's die in the US on an operating table. Honesty is the best policy, prove the payment to the medical facility and give the public the name of this facility.
WHY!! GO TO MEXICO. I WOULD BE SCARED TO GO TO MEXICO FOR ANY SURGERY. ITS ALARMING. THATS CHEAP. YOU DONT WANT TO GO DO THAT. OH! NO. IM ALITTLE OVER WEIGHT. BUT NOT IN THAT BAD OF CONDITION. SO IM GOOD
These procedures are risky state side too. The U.S. charges way to much money and it’s outrageous that insurance in the states is not available. My friend had this done in the states and was in a coma for three months. These people should not have had to resort to these measures. And, patients need to have after care. Scary.
they saved on tax and contributred to crime in mexico gross
They went to the discount health center. This is painting Mexico in a bad light. You can get sketchy medical here in the us
I'm in shock because these people were not like really badly obese to start with. If they counted calories did some walking all of them would be their ideal weight within 2 years.
I’ll stick to the old school way of losing weight. Count the calories going in and exercise.
It is not true that people don't know the risk. So many occidentals go in other countries to do that because they take a chance and think trusting ppl who done this will make them also better.
You don't think it happens to you but there is a BIG risk. Sorry for them.
I would never go mostly in CORRUPTED COUNTRIES because I dont know who to trust.
Seems by the comments many went to Mexico and had good experience tho.
I hope they close this clinic!
I’m sorry, but none of these people were at a point where WLS was medically necessary. They were not at extreme medical risk due to their obesity. Too many overweight people treat WLS as a “magic bullet” that will solve all their problems. Any of these 3 people could have lost that weight slowly and safely with some hard work and discipline. Instead they went down this path and permanently altered their digestive systems at great medical risk.
Yep had 2 coworkers get a gastric sleeve in Mexico with zero issues , don’t blame the country
I heard crack is cheaper in Mexico
Next have guests who have suffered horrific medical malpractice in our country. You should know that going to another country for medical care, especially, cosmetic surgeries, is a huge risk. You also share some responsibility. Hire a trainer and nutritionist with that money and do it the healthy way. That lady did not do her due diligence. The fact she went ALONE with strangers to do a surgery in Tijuana tells me she lacks good judgement and common sense. That's just ridiculous.
I’m scared now to get gastric sleeve done soon after watching a lot of people dying after surgery because it has complications , but I seen about gastric sleeve surgery and bypass for years now .
Medical should not be monetized.
🤯
Omg, the lady's highest weight was 250lbs?! Why, oh why did she not just lose the weight on her own?! I don't believe she should have ever risked surgery at that weight..that is still an attainable weight, that one can lose on their own. I understand if you are 400lbs+ but she could have lost that weight on her own. Surgery should always be the LAST option!
I feel like if you can lose the weight in a natural, healthy way that doesn’t involve surgery, please do that instead. Hire a personal trainer, dietician, get a fitness tracker. Work with your doctor. Put in the work & you can lose the weight & not risk your life ❤
I know two people that went to Mexico for weight loss surgery and both times they were very successful. The hospital was incredibly clean, the doctors and staff were well educated and showed confidence in there work by being able to answer all their questions. You have to do your research. If you find a medical facility that is highly recommended and has a good track record you should go with that one. Every procedure has its risks and we know this is also true in the US.
Even though I've been trying to lose weight for years, I realized that I couldn't do it without surgery. I live in the USA and unfortunately my financial situation is not good enough to receive treatment here. That's why I decided to get treatment in a different country. It was impossible for me to pay 12.000€ here. Instead I found a clinic in Turkey. Slimmer and fitter. I got a very successful result. The cost of treatment is only 2500€. At this price they picked me up from the airport and made me stay at the hotel. I am very satisfied with the result and would recommend it to you as well.
You don’t asume you investigate. Do your homework before you commit to a serious surgery like this. Please don’t blame all surgeons in Mexico. This country has certified and qualified doctors. If you do t take the time to do your homework, don’t expect to get the results you want.
