Spread The Viralist

Learn how to parallel park like a pro with the easy steps outlined in this video. These tips are perfect to prepare you for parallel parking on the driving test and pass easily.

Parallel parking is often one of the most difficult parts of the road test, but if you follow the step-by-step instructions outlined in this guide, it will be no problem for you to complete the maneuver.

Remember that you need to have enough space to be able to safely parallel park between two cars – this is especially important when you’re learning how to complete the maneuver. As you grow more confident in your ability, you can take on smaller and smaller spaces to fine-tune your parallel parking skills. Remember to practice the maneuver a lot before taking your driving test.

1. Find a large enough parking spot
2. Place your car parallel to the car in front
3. Turn the wheel fully to the right and begin to reverse
4. Turn your wheels straight and reverse further
5. Turn your wheels fully to the left and reverse into position
6. Straighten your wheels and creep forward into position

  1. Thats not how you do it. You turn 360 degree spin which is 1 full turn. Then Make sure right mirror blocks left brake light, check the door hand make sure curb disappears on door handle and makes a V shape, make sure you can see both headlights on left mirror. Then crank your wheel fully to the left..

  2. When I go to shopping centre or gym it is very easy to tell which car is driven by man and which by a woman, Women almost Never reverse into a parking spot this is not being sexist it is a fact I have been driving over 40 years and it's getting better but only slightly.

  3. I’m a driving instructor in California. This method DOES NOT WORK because it says line your mirror up. If you drive a mini Cooper and you line up next to a pick up truck, you’d reverse directly into their trunk. Fucking bullshit video. If you wanna actually parallel park, here’s how.

    – line up your TRUNK with the car fronting the spots trunk.
    – turn your wheel all the way to the right.
    – find the car behind the spot, in your LEFT mirror. Stop AS SOON AS you find the WHOLE car (BOTH FRONT HEADLIGHTS) in the mirror. If you keep going past the point where you barely see the car, you’ll hit the curb. (HOWEVER— if you are parking in a large spot, go past that car respective to how far you go past. Meaning it’s big, you go far past, if it’s small, you have to stop as soon as you see the edge of the car)
-go straight until you line up the FRONT RIGHT of the A frame of the car on your car to the LEFT tail light of the car in front of you.
    -turn all the way left
-reverse until parallel to the curb.

    BOOM. YW.

  4. This is a good video. I didn’t learn/I’m not learning using the “mirror method” unfortunately because a lot of cars are different sizes and people park all kinds of crazy ways.

But, these are really really phenomenal tips and pointers and they really guide you

Honestly, it’s just a lot of practice

I’m finally learning how to do it and the first few times I tried parallel parking, my back wheels went up on the curb, I was too far away, too close, I literally got tears in my eyes, I was so frustrated that I was like “screw this I’m never going to get it right, I don’t need to parallel park. I don’t need to drive “

And I actually didn’t do it for a whole week

Then, when I went for my driving lesson, I was like OK let me write the steps & look at videos, ask my instructor for a lot of pointers, then just keep going no matter what

    Yesterday
It was really shaky and I didn’t get it Perfect

    but I see the progress.

And the improvement from the first time when I was in tears, wanting to give up, two yesterday, when I was like “I can actually do this “

Is what makes it worth it

Unfortunately, in my state, certain cities will not make you parallel park, but the one I’m in does make you parallel park for the driving test. Trust me when I tell you it makes me want to switch to the DMV that does not make you do it. Lol.

Personally, I don’t think parallel parking should be a part of the driving test, and a lot of states have taken it off of their curriculum all together. Curriculum as in the driving test. They show you how to do it during the lessons, but it’s not a deciding factor in passing the actual test.

  5. I made my test today, all things went so smoothly, until I had to do a parallel parking, but weird thing is there is no car behind me, so it means there is no car going to show up in my left mirror, so itś confused when to start turning ,,,,yeah anyway, I didn't pass the exam, from Germany.

  6. This is great, but there's a catch. On road tests there isn't always a second car behind the target space. Sometimes there's only a single car in front. Need to come up with a different reference point based on car in front for when to turn wheels straight again to continue backing up (in step 3).

  7. The best of method of teaching about parallel parking. I like it 100 percent, you explained everything very nicely with written texts.
Please I want you make a very nice video like this about How to do 3 point turn correctly and perfectly?
Thank you very much for hard working.

  8. Thank you, i’ve been driving for 45 years and avoided having to parallel park unless I had a passenger to get out and guide me in (even then I sucked at it.) Can’t wait to build up enough courage to try it on my own. Feels like my first time driving again.

  9. This video is somewhat misleading..There are some states well Parallel Parking is not on your driving test…Florida, California, Alabama, Ohio and Virginia are some of the few states that I know where Parallel Parking is not on the test nor is it required…And I myself can confirm that because I've been to those states and almost nobody ever Parallel Parks..They just simply either park in a parking lot in between lines or pull into their driveway or apartment complexes..Now if we're talking about cities such as New York City, then Parallel Parking is a definitely a MUST since you see cars Parallel Parked in almost every neighborhoods there

  10. I have a driver's license and I still have no idea how to park. The driving school's car had a strip that I could see through the mirror which I used as a cue, when it was above the curb I just went left and it was in.
