When you watch Formula 1 now, if you’re eagle-eyed (or a driving coach) you will notice that all of the drivers use quite a similar driving style. Like, pretty much, EXACTLY the same.

They are VERY smooth coming off the brakes, then one sweep of the steering wheel into the corner, then out of the corner – and smooth on the throttle again.
That’s it, all of them do it. From Lewis, through to Nikita (mostly).

Now, I have broken down a lot of different drivers’ driving styles on this channel. The Alonso video kinda kicked things off for Driver61.
He would drive in a deliberately horrible style, inducing massive understeer – heating up the famously hard-wearing Michelins to then give him grip on exit.
Then there’s Schumacher – he drove the car very hard into the corner and rotated it mid-corner. This meant that he was [actually slower] mid-corner – but he more than made up for it on the entry and with a brilliant exit.

But, now if you look at Verstappen vs Hamilton – the way they drive the car is remarkably similar. Honestly, go watch some onboards! [After this obviously – I would LOVE to include them here, but we’re not allowed.]
So what’s up with that? Have they just cracked the secret to driving? Or is it the cars that mean everyone drives so similarly now?

Well, let’s look back at Senna. Over his time in Formula 1 – he drove a lot of different cars. All of which needed driving differently, so he always needed to adapt to the car.
And it’s quite a collection of cars.

Nikita style = Senna amiright?
Jokes aside, would you like to see more aggressive driving styles back in Formula 1?
If you gave Senna a now and days car…. He’d be a champion in a season or two. He had talent and gifts that I haven’t seen since… Schumacher was probably the closest thing to him.
Because today technology and the car means a lot more than the driver
He would be fast or even faster than half the grid….he was at the highest level of driving in his Era…he would just learn and adapt,,even niki would be even faster than most of the f1 drivers….
True, he would smoke everyone now.
You already said it he adapted to the cars he drove I’m sure in 2023 he would find out a way to adapt
As long it got 4 wheel…im sure senna will always be the best
What driver style
It’s totally car dominated race
Best car irrespective of the drivers win since vettels’ red bull stint, followed by Hamilton and Mercedes and now Verstappen and red bull
It’s become so boring as their is no competition at the top
ONE HORSE RACE
Senna, Schumacher, Prost all the past great would adapt
You are utterly wrong, Senna was able to adapt with any car in a matter of days.
Man youre video I DONT EVEN need to watch it. He was the best at his time and even this alone should tell you that he can adapt to all things. You have obviously no clue what a good driver makes.
You have no clue what your talking about.I raced against Senna Da Silva in the late 70s and early 80s.He could adapt to any driving situation good or bad.You have no clue how fast he was.Your making speculations based on nothing
These cars drive on their own in comparison to what senna drove.
There is a charme to modern high tech F1, I just like the old ones more. Feels raw and more „real“
You seem quite obsessed with driver's styles with particular cars. If Senna was active and drove today would have a completely different style because the cars are completely different aswell.
Drivers have to constantly change or adapt their driving styles through their careers, in go karts, in lower formulas, in formula 1… And veterans like Alonso have had to change it several times because V10s were very different to no-TC V8, which were very different to V6 hybrids, which were different to the current ground effect ones.
Im sorry, he would get adapted to whatever….unfortunately this new f1 era is loosing a lot of fans…because…its all eletronic….I am 100% he would make it
he explained why the f1 today is so boring!!!!
Finally someone else who knows!
The question is, how would the drivers of today go back to the manual/turbo/ beasts. That we can call, true drivers.
Senna could get pole in a shopping trolley 🛒
