Cute animal video featuring Sumatran Orangutan Family at Chester Zoo The video features Orangutan Mother Emma and her daughters Kesuma and baby Hillda, who she is holding high up in a tree, while she observes the monsoon habitat and the young orangutans playing there
Also in this video we see Teenage sisters Tuti and Siska who are daughters of mum Subis and their little infant brother Arga The young Orangutan siblings are who all share the same father – Puluh are having fun playing outdoors swinging and hanging upside down carrying their blankets everywhere – even up trees
See if you can spot Tuti who does an impressive catch of her blanket whilst climbing , with her foot!
Orangutans are so human like in many ways and watching their similar behaviours is fascinating and wonderful to observe
This video was recorded in March 2022 and so the Orangutans featured here are older now but still as playful!
Their ages in this video are as follows:
Arga – age 2 – mother Subis
Kesuma – age 4 – mother Emma
Tuti – age 9 – Mother Subis
Siska – age 6 – Mother Subis
Hillda – age 9 months – Mother Emma
Emma – age 34

Chester Zoo Monsoon Forest habitat has several very large outdoor areas that are very lush and extremely well planted with mature trees, plants, grasses and fruit shrubs for the Orangutans to freely graze on all day
Sumatran Orangutans are Endangered
Sumatran Orangutans are an endangered species of Great Ape, threatened to the edge of extinction, due to the ongoing destruction of the Environment in their native homeland of The Indonesian Island of Sumatra. The destruction of their native forests is largely to make way for the planting of palm oil, which is used in the manufacture of many products in developed nations, such as food products and cleaning products.
Baby Orangutans at Chester Zoo
Chester Zoo is the only Zoo in the UK to House and Care for Sumatran Orangutans. They are part of the breeding program for this important and vulnerable species, ensuring there is a strong genic population in zoos and wildlife centres across the world, essential for the future survival of these magnificent animals.
These rare Sumatran Baby Orangutans are absolutely adorable and so much fun to watch, Young Sumatran Orangutans interact with each other and learn from the behaviours of other Orangutans in their Family group.

  1. Gorgeous video❣️ Of all the great apes, orangutans seem to have the most interest in using ‘human’ things, like blankets, buckets or anything else they can get their hands on. 😂 They seem to have no trouble figuring out exactly what to do with them, too! The shot of Tuti on top of the pole wrapped in the blanket is just the sweetest thing. 🥰 Thanks for a wonderful start to my day. 🙏❤
