  1. The flash floods was when multiple cities got drowned to hell through a never ending rainstorm. It was majority localized in Rhineland-Palatinate and Northrhine-Westphalia

  2. Meh… the cost of living is higher in the US, therefore the cost to replace property is higher. The 2004 tsunami caused far more damage than any US disaster. I'd argue the recent Turkish/Syrian earthquake also caused more damage along with the Haitian earthquake. Cost is arbitrary. Property damage and loss of life are not.

  3. Gotta love that it’s sorted by economic damage straight up in dollars just so we can pretend natural disasters don’t hit poor countries much worse. If we really want to focus on economic damage then it would be much more interesting comparing the absolute cost to the GDP of the region.
