What appears to be a chain-reaction crash involving multiple vehicles has led to one death and traffic closed on I-55 in both directions Monday morning.
In addition, traffic on I-10 headed in both directions is closed and traffic is being diverted to I-310 headed toward Baton Rouge.
Social media videos and posts show near-zero visibility in some areas and another image showed a major vehicle fire.

Why don't people slow down in foggy conditions?
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
If people can't be trusted to slow down in these kinds of weather conditions, then maybe some legislation to force them to do so should be enacted. Just like the law to turn on your headlights in rain, and wear a seatbelt, let's introduce legislation to reduce traffic speed limits to 25-30mph during foggy conditions. $150 fine for speeding could be a good first penalty.
Doesnโt matter younger or older all drivers seen never follow rules of the road over speeding, never using turn signals, flash lights, break lights or switch on head lights during dark or heavy fogs conditions or rainy/snowy slippery conditions. Specially pick up trucks and suv drivers are more aggressive reckless driving and uncourteous creating dangerous accidents situations, now a days hwy police rarely find monitoring traffic speeding or safety patrolling.๐ฎ๐ฎ
They know the people will buy it, no pressing questions asked. They know the people cant do anything about it either.

I crossed the Causeway northbound at 6 am in the dark. Only a few cars both ways. I heard they had accidents and shut the bridge down quickly – working from home tomorrow

That is one inept on scene reporter. Repetitive and rambling. BTW, where is St. John the Deputy Parish?

Shits no joke
Slow down. Increase following distance. Put phones down. Simple.
Is this northbound near Ruddock exit? Where TF did this happen?
Wow, that is really sad.
The fog is really dangerous!!!!
If "you" can't see where your car is going you're not really in control of your car!
I wonder what it smells like out there?
Latest update so far is 2 fatalities. Possibly more. ๐ข
