It’s so iconic and historical and funny, and that’s why it’s worth going. The burger is pretty simple, but I do love how you serve your own toppings, and the pickles are delicious. They take such care and art in preparing their burgers, and what I noticed is that every Chef specializes in one of the ingredients, and prepares is so carefully. It was assembled to perfection, and the harmony and balance of ingredients is what made it so good. I think the reason it was so good to me is that it was a real burger, nothing too fancy or not trying to add unique ingredients – it was just a burger that we all love, but taken to the next level. 2nd BTW – Classic Chicago "Hot-Dog-Stand" Fries are always "Crinkle-Cut", because the many ridges make the Fries more crispy, for mouth-feel, salt retention, and a Catsup dip. These new-style European 'knock-off' "French" Fries are too Oily and way too wet.

BTW – "Chicago "Fast-Bite-Sandwich' Rules' are: 1). "Only 'Yellow Mustard' on a Chicago Hot Dog (plus the usual 'everything on it' toppings)" – 2). "Only 'Au Jus', 'Sweet Green Peppers', and 'Giardiniera' on an Italian Beef", and 3). "anything goes on a 'Hamburger and Fries,' so catsup is fine use on these last ones.

I do wish with you had gone to the other Redhot Ranch location on Armitage, to get the full Chicago experience under the L tracks. However, filming would have been difficult, and there's no indoor seating.

Au Cheval is always overcooked and they've switched their ingredients to lower quality substitutes in recent years. It was good when it first opened, but not anymore. You missed out by going there.

All the burgers are the same no big deal who is cooking them…notice no one added salt or pepper so the your are the Chef with a burger you choose dressing and decision on salt/pepper. But give prop's to Mark for all his facial reactions to each bite.
