MEXICO Now! Storm Otis, Lidia Brings Flooding Rains & Strong Wind Hits Acapulco | Natural Disasters
The once-idyllic resort city of Acapulco lay in ruins after the catastrophic landfall of Hurricane Otis, one of the most destructive natural disasters in Mexico’s history.
The Category 5 monster churned ashore Wednesday morning with winds over 157 mph, wreaking havoc and unleashing massive flooding across the city.
Experts are already calling Otis the strongest hurricane on record to strike the Eastern Pacific coast, natural disasters.
The storm’s brute force shattered windows by the thousands, leaving Acapulco’s famed beachfront hotels looking like toothless, hulking husks, natural disasters.
Mud and debris choked the streets, with no electricity or internet service in the aftermath of the natural disasters.
As the hurricane dissipated over the mountains Wednesday afternoon, it revealed a path of utter devastation in its wake.
With roads blocked and communication down, the full extent of the damage and potential loss of life remains unknown.
But the scenes emerging from the battered city tell a tale of catastrophe – thousands engaged in looting, desperate residents waiting for aid that has yet to arrive.
Acapulco, once a paradise for the rich and famous, now lies in ruins, the latest victim of a natural disaster on a scale the city has never before endured.
As Mexico takes stock of the devastation, one thing is clear – it will take years to rebuild and recover from Hurricane Otis, one of the worst natural disasters in the nation’s memory.

This is some of the worst damage I have seen since Andrew, Katrina and that one that hit Houston. From what I have heard the shanty town on the mountain is completely destroyed. So sad. It will be years before they rebuild. There is another invest strengthening and aimed straight at the same area. Praying it goes out to sea instead.
