Dogs definitely have empathy. When I’m sad because of a loss of life or anything at all, my dog senses it in the middle of the night. She comes up to the top of the bed and starts nudging me and loving on me. I didn’t even call her but she senses it. Bless her little heart.

People who say dogs don't have empathy have never lived with a dog and treated it right. I've seen empathy many times in my dogs and in dogs who come to visit. I honestly believe dogs learn some emotional behaviors from the people in their lives.
