Barksgiving is a tradition for me and my family. There are a lot of dogs in shelters across the nation and they deserve to be a part of a family so I hope my Barksgivings help bring them a little happiness. Consider visiting your local shelter this Thanksgiving weekend 🤙

  1. I realize you have to select one dog to complete this video with, but I wish you'd share that food with all of the dogs in the shelter. You can hear how much they want/need a treat, too.

  2. I was waiting all the way through this video for the other dogs to get a dinner also. They were licking their lips. So sad. I'm sure you came through for them, but we wanted to see it. 🙂

  3. Rocky, I have learned a lot from you about how to meet a new dog. I have a friend that does foster care for dogs, and the most recent on is extremely reactive to sudden movement or sounds. She also has two others that are her own pets. So, they help socialize the new member. I pet sit for her occasionally and I love doing it because Abby and Clark are really sweet animals. Clark doesn't present as a Clark to me, but rather a "Roscoe", I don't know why, but he responds to it, And Clark too. Anyway the new dog, is high strung, so after the other two calmed down about my being there, I sat on the floor with my back against a wall and let the new kid come to me. I tried the no eye contact for a while and after he sniffed me all over, he pushed his head under my arm from the side… I knew that he was ready for pets. My favorite place to pet a dog is on the back of the neck and back. Moving slowly to legs, chest, and muzzle. In the mean time the other two were "booping" me with their snouts. These guys are fun and funny. Clark love to chase a ball, and he will bring it back but he won't give it to you out right.
I have thought about doing what you do, but I resist the desire because I would probably no be consistent. I'm 65, diabetic and have cardiac artery disease; so I'm not as active as I once was. I was a K9 officer for a security agency after 3 years in the Army and 5 more years in the Navy. I miss the chatter between brothers in arms, but I also get attached to animals quickly. Keep doing what you do, and when I can I will make donations to shelters and to your programs too. God Bless and keep going!

  4. Wonderful BarksGiving video! My dog watched it all with me, something she doesn’t normally do. Thank you for what you’re doing and for setting up an easy to use donation site. Don

  5. Happy Barksgiving Rocky, and everyone. Loved this. Very uplifting. You have great energy and instincts Rocky. If you don't mind a suggestion… if you feel the energy is right, maybe encourage the dog to smell you a bit earlier. Maybe after the first or second treat. That's how dogs say hello. I find holding my hand out, palm down is a good non-threatening way to invite them to smell you. That's what I've found works for me when greeting dogs, but then I've not done anything like this so you will, I'm sure, know best

  6. Tell me that when you enter the shelter with delicious smelling food you give some to all the dogs, not just one. That seems indirectly a cruel thing to do to them as a group.

  7. Amazed by this channel. With the current dog news and restrictions id live to see some content shining a better light on the dogs in question especially as so many are being abondoned due to owners who are not willing to follow the restrictions or cant get the money in time to do so. 😢❤🐕 they are extremely friendly and loving and love children and ither animals no matter the size. It's about the way you introduce them, consistency and praise and showing who is in charge without causing fear.

  8. Argggh, I hate when your content ends up on my feed. I cant help but click on even though I know Ill be in tears within the first couple of minutes. Thank you for treating these beautiful animals with such patience, understanding, respect and kindness.

  9. I think he had someobody that loved him but couldn't provide what he needed. He seems to have known good people. He looks like a white fluffy cloud. So I guess you could name him cloud? Yes I agree if we could give a few bucks it makes a very big difference in these cases 🥰
