  1. I have 219 reptiles as pets and they eat mice, rats, gerbils, hamsters, ASFs, rabbits, birds, piglets, lambs and other prey. I would never feed them an animal that I personally do not know the history of. It’s absolutely disgusting how people “rescue” these animals and then feed them off. It’s completely unethical and risky for the reptile as well. All my feeders are humanely raised and are either personally bred by me or sourced from places I have personally seen and trust. This will sadly only demonize reptiles even more

  2. Dude when you buy a pet to feed to another pet you usually have no info on their health, they could be sick with something or have parasites that are harmful to pet snakes. Not to mention that they're pets, they're gonna be more expensive than feeder rodents and might not even be what your snake or reptile eats if they're picky. It's just so awful to begin with, they don't need to be something's food.

  3. Guys I don’t understand the main difference between this and the small animals bred specifically to be food. Are the ones made to be food like… humanely frozen or something? Make me understand.

  4. Personally i do see much wrong with feeding unwanted rodents/ small mammels to reptile centers. As long as its done humanely/ without abuse or neglect. reptiles gatta eat and its impossible for them all to be adopted.

  5. Its probly not rocket science….. The guy in AZ owns a SNAKE breading company RATS are what vanished….the rats were fed to snakes….are a former rat owner gah….just gah.

  6. This is absolutely disgraceful and disturbing to think about what happened to those poor animals. I really feel for all the volunteers who cared for and formed attachments to those animals before their transfer knowing what likely happened to those pets. I live in the UK and used to be a volunteer at my local charitable rehoming centre, I had to leave because I was sickened by practices being carried out and the excuses used to euthanise cats just because they were there too long or were elderly. Every animal matters and I found myself forming attachments and couldn’t handle the situation any longer. I proposed a solution for finding homes for elderly pets with older people who wouldn’t want to take on a younger pet that would likely outlive them but still the killing continued. I would NEVER EVER rehome a pet at the centre knowing what happens

  7. I can’t stand how animals have to suffer because of awful or complacent ppl. You don’t have to be an activist to just be kind to the little creatures around us. They are at our mercy, and the things some ppl do to them is evil. Thank God for the ppl who spend their lives caring for and advocating for domestic animals. They are the ones who fought for the animals in this video

  10. God this just made me feel horrid though out it. Had tears during that vigil. Good for you for doing it. Those little animals mattered 😢 what absolute c**ts.

  11. This video needs to go viral. Also, this goes back to people breeding and selling these poor creatures in the first place. Please know what you are getting into when getting your kids a pet

  12. SDHS is taking zero responsibility. They had the name Trevor Jones and knew these animals were in trouble in August yet sat on the information and tried to sweep it under the rug. They don’t seem to want anything to come to light and gave lord along with HSSA.

  13. I have many reptiles(snakes and geckos) and some pet rats, mouse, rabitt, qunea pig,humpsters..Sometimes people give me rodents for free, like "we dont need tges pet anemore",but i never feed to snakes PETS they pets!i have rodents for feeding. But they nor pets(ofcourse they live food live ,big cages and healty food too),but give "free pet rodens" dor snakes is pretty..bad😢

  14. Why is this such an issue? Snakes need to eat and if they had such trouble finding homes for these smaller critters that they needed to ship them off to another state then why not just let reptile breeders adopt them? Who is to say a good home can’t be as a hearty meal for someone’s pet snake? What would be the difference from the rodents being sourced from a pet store and then either bred or fed directly to a reptile. It seems pretty arbitrary to me.

If it weren’t for the fact that the critters were in an adoption shelter and the whole thing was highly publicized then this wouldn’t have been the drama it ultimately was. To me the only thing the reptile breeders did wrong was not being thorough enough in how they faked the adoptions before funneling the critters into their operation given the publicity surrounding the transfer.

  15. At first while starting the video I thought maybe the small animals would be killed and fed to other rescue animals such as dogs and cats and thought that the situation therefore wouldn't be as bad (in my own logic) but to hear that these rescue animals were being fed to reptiles that were only being fed only because they were apart of a breeding program that already treats these reptiles as commodities. That is much more disgusting than I thought it previously was

  16. There is absolutely no shame in owning a reptile that needs to be fed other animals. HOWEVER there is no excuse for not ethically sourcing those animals and treating them with care and respect until they become a meal. This situation makes the reptile community look so heartless and shifty, if it didnt already thanks to some terrible members and general misconceptions from non-reptile owners, it makes me so upset, on top of all those pets who deserved a new home. I'm so upset. And some dumb people who claim to love all animals dont realise REPTILES ARE PETS TOO AND NEED TO EAT. BUT THIS DOES NOT MAKE IT OKAY TO FEED THEM WITH ANIMALS NOT ETHICALLY AND HUMANELY SOURCED.

  17. That Awful I've rescued rodents and reptiles. I would never feed an animal that I intend to love and keep as a pet to another pet when I buy pet food. I buy it dead on arrival. I don't buy live animals to feed to another live animal. I keep reptiles and rodents. I wouldn't never think to feed my rodents to my reptiles, even when the rodents stifled age, I Bury them just like I would any other pet that dies of old age. I know it's a waste of money but a pet's a pet food is food. They're separate things.I know I could save money by feeding my reptiles. The Rodents that die of old age But I bond with those rodents the same way. I do at the reptiles, so that just doesn't feel right.

  18. That's so sad :[
My local rescue, if they can't rehome animals, will move them into other rescues until they're adopted. Sometimes they put animals down, but that's their last option.

  19. I foster kittens with SDHS. This situation is a rescuer’s worst nightmare. It breaks my heart to know what became of these animals that should have become someone’s beloved pet. I appreciate you making it clear that SDHS and HSSA are different organizations, as I’ve seen a lot of vitriol online towards SDHS. Those animals were transferred with the best intentions. I have seen how over filled our shelters are, so I understand why it seemed like a good idea to transfer them to an organization that would adopt them out. I just hope that the people at fault here get jail time. We need REAL consequences for this tragedy.

  20. Arizona is doing dogs of the week and if they are not adopted in those few days they are being put down because they don't have space but donations could help save their lives.

  21. I live in Tucson Arizona where the 300 animals were lost . They also use this to try to GET DONATIONS 🤨 At first they tried to tell volunteers and local news it's just a mistake the animals are fine They were just moved And we didn't have time to make sure it was a credited organization because we don't have the space or money , to now That other people have put the information out and they can't lie anymore. They are so sad and have no idea how this happened in the rumors that someone on the inside of their office definitely making a profit off the deal of turning them into snake food are not true.
But they do admit that they wore frozen to be sold as snake food 😑
