Will the Earth Be Destroyed?

The Bible’s answer
No, planet Earth will never be destroyed, burned in fire, or replaced. The Bible teaches that God created the earth to be inhabited forever.
“The righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it.”—Psalm 37:29.
“[God] has established the earth on its foundations; it will not be moved from its place forever and ever.”—Psalm 104:5.
“The earth remains forever.”—Ecclesiastes 1:4.
“The One who formed the earth, its Maker who firmly established it, . . . did not create it simply for nothing, but formed it to be inhabited.”—Isaiah 45:18.
Will humans ruin the earth?
God will not allow humans to ruin the earth completely by pollution, warfare, or any other means. Rather, he will “bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” (Revelation 11:18) How will he accomplish that?
God will replace human governments, which have been unable to protect the earth, with a perfect heavenly Kingdom. (Daniel 2:44; Matthew 6:9, 10) That Kingdom will be ruled by God’s Son, Jesus Christ. (Isaiah 9:6, 7) When on earth, Jesus exercised miraculous powers over natural elements. (Mark 4:35-41) As the King of God’s Kingdom, Jesus will exercise full control over earth and its elements. He will re-create, or renew, conditions on earth, making them similar to those that existed in the garden of Eden.—Matthew 19:28; Luke 23:43.
Doesn’t the Bible teach that the earth will be burned in fire?
No, it does not. Such a misconception often comes from a misunderstanding of 2 Peter 3:7, which says: “The heavens and the earth that now exist are reserved for fire.” Consider two important points that help us understand the meaning of those words:
The Bible uses the terms “heavens,” “earth,” and “fire” to refer to more than one thing. For example, Genesis 11:1 says: “All the earth continued to be of one language.” Here, “earth” refers to human society.
The context of 2 Peter 3:7 indicates the meaning of the heavens, earth, and fire mentioned there. Verses 5 and 6 draw a parallel with the Flood of Noah’s day. On that occasion, an ancient world was destroyed, yet our planet did not disappear. Instead, the Flood wiped out a violent society, or “earth.” (Genesis 6:11) It also destroyed a kind of “heavens”—the people who ruled over that earthly society. Thus, wicked people were destroyed, not our planet. Noah and his family survived the destruction of that world and inhabited the earth after the Flood.—Genesis 8:15-18.
Similar to the waters of the Flood, the destruction, or “fire,” of 2 Peter 3:7 will bring an end to the world of wicked people, not to planet Earth. God promises “new heavens and a new earth” in which “righteousness is to dwell.” (2 Peter 3:13) A “new earth,” or new human society, will be ruled over by “new heavens,” or new leadership—God’s Kingdom. Under the rule of that Kingdom, the earth will become a peaceful paradise.—Revelation 21:1-4.
Verse 4 says " And he (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes,g and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
Those words must refer to earth, because in heaven, where God is, death has never existed. These and many other scriptures of similar import certainly point this out
What Will God’s Kingdom Accomplish?
Jesus taught his disciples to pray for the Kingdom to come. He knew that the terrible things happening on the earth are not what God wants and that God’s Kingdom is the only government that can fix these problems. What will God’s Kingdom accomplish?
WHAT GOD’S KINGDOM HAS ALREADY DONE
In the preceding article, we considered the sign Jesus gave. That sign provides visible proof that God’s Kingdom has been established in heaven with Jesus Christ as King.
The Bible says that on taking Kingdom power, Jesus would expel Satan and his demons from heaven. Their activity is now restricted to the earth, which is one of the reasons why things have become so bad since the year 1914.—Revelation 12:7, 9.
Despite worsening world conditions, Jesus, as King of God’s Kingdom, has done things to help people around the earth. Thanks to the worldwide Bible educational work that Jesus foretold, many are learning and applying Bible principles in their daily life. (Isaiah 2:2-4) Millions have learned to have a balanced view of work, to improve their family life, and to enjoy material things without becoming slaves to them. These people are learning to benefit themselves now and are becoming the kind of people God wants as subjects of his Kingdom.
WHAT WILL GOD’S KINGDOM ACCOMPLISH NEXT?
Although Jesus is already ruling in heaven, human governments still rule on earth. However, God has directed Jesus: “Go subduing in the midst of your enemies.” (Psalm 110:2) Soon, Jesus will completely destroy all opposers and bring relief to those who are willing to obey God.
During that time, God’s Kingdom will take action to
*Abolish false religion. Religions that have taught lies about God and that have made life difficult for people will be gone. The Bible portrays false religion as a prostitute. Its destruction will come as a shock to many.—Revelation 17:15, 16.
*End human rulership. God’s Kingdom will take action to put an end to all human rulership.—Revelation 19:15, 17, 18.
*Remove wicked people. What about those who are determined to do what is bad and who refuse to obey God? “As for the wicked, they will be cut off from the earth.”—Proverbs 2:22.
*Eliminate Satan and the demons. Satan and the demons will be unable to “mislead the nations anymore.”—Revelation 20:3, 10.
WHAT GOD’S KINGDOM WILL DO FOR MANKIND
Ruling as King in heaven, Jesus will accomplish much more than any human ruler ever could. He will be assisted by 144,000 corulers, who are chosen from among mankind. (Revelation 5:9, 10; 14:1, 3) He will make sure that God’s will is carried out here on earth. What will God’s Kingdom do for earth’s inhabitants?
*Eliminate sickness and death. “No resident will say: ‘I am sick,’” and “death will be no more.”—Isaiah 33:24; Revelation 21:4.
*Ensure true peace and security. “The peace of your sons will be abundant,” and “they will sit, each one under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one will make them afraid.”—Isaiah 54:13; Micah 4:4.
*Provide meaningful work. “The work of their hands my chosen ones will enjoy to the full. They will not toil for nothing.”—Isaiah 65:22, 23.
*Solve environmental problems. “The wilderness and the parched land will exult, and the desert plain will be joyful and blossom as the saffron.”—Isaiah 35:1.
*Teach people what they need to do in order to live forever. “This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.”—John 17:3.
God wants you to enjoy those blessings. (Isaiah 48:18)
Climate Change and Our Future—What the Bible Says

Mankind faces a crisis of its own making. Most scientists agree that human activity is responsible for global warming. This rise in temperature has already changed the climate and brought disastrous consequences. These include the following:
**More frequent and intense weather events, such as heat waves, droughts, and storms, which in turn cause more floods and wildfires.
**Melting glaciers and Arctic ice.
**Rising sea levels.
The climate crisis has affected every corner of the earth. After documenting conditions in 193 countries, a New York Times report stated: “The planet is sending an SOS.” Because of the death and suffering climate change has caused, the World Health Organization has called it the “single biggest health threat facing humanity.”
However, we have reason to look to the future with hope. The Bible foretold the events that we see happening today, as well as why we can expect God to act and what he will do to protect our future.
Does climate change fulfill Bible prophecy?🤔

📕Prophecy: God will “destroy those who are destroying the earth.”—Revelation 11:18, footnote
The Bible foretold a time when human actions would bring the earth to the brink of ruin. As a result of global warming, people today are ruining the planet on an unprecedented scale.
This prophecy indicates one reason why we cannot expect humans to save the earth. Note that God will step in while people “are destroying the earth.” Whatever progress well-intentioned people make in the fight against climate change, it will not be enough to keep mankind from ruining the earth.

The Bible foretold that “fearful sights,” or terrifying events, would occur in our day. Climate change has generated terrifying weather events around the globe. Today, some people suffer from eco-anxiety—a chronic fear of environmental doom.

**Prophecy: “In the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, . . . disloyal, . . . not open to any agreement, . . . betrayers, headstrong.”—2 Timothy 3:1-4.
The Bible foretold the traits and behavior that have created the climate crises. Governments and businesses put economic interests first and betray the interests of future generations. Even when they attempt to work together, they cannot agree on the steps needed to stop global warming.
This prophecy indicates that we should not expect that people in general will change their actions and protect the earth. Rather, the Bible states that people displaying selfish qualities would “advance from bad to worse.”—2 Timothy 3:13.

Why we can be certain that God will act?
The Bible📕 reveals that Jehovah a God, our Creator, is committed to our planet and those who inhabit it. Consider just three Bible verses that indicate that God will act.
1. God “did not create [the earth] simply for nothing, but formed it to be inhabited.”—Isaiah 45:18📕
God will accomplish his purpose for the earth. (Isaiah 55:11) He will not let it be destroyed or become uninhabitable.
2. “The meek will possess the earth, and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. The righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it.”—Psalm 37:11, 29📕
God promises that humans will live on the earth forever under peaceful conditions.
3. “As for the wicked, they will be cut off from the earth.”—Proverbs 2:22📕
God promises to remove those who persist in wickedness, including those who ruin the earth.
What God will do for our future🌍
How will God fulfill his promises for the earth?
He will do so by means of a worldwide government known as God’s Kingdom. (Matthew 6:10) That Kingdom will rule from heaven. It will not have to negotiate with human governments on issues involving the earth and its environment. Rather, God’s Kingdom will replace human governments.—Daniel 2:44.God’s Kingdom is good news for all mankind and for the natural world. (Psalm 96:10-13) Consider what Jehovah God will do by means of his Kingdom.
*Restore the environment
What the Bible says: “The wilderness and the parched land will exult, and the desert plain will be joyful and blossom as the saffron.”—Isaiah 35:1📕
What it means for our future: Jehovah will heal the planet, even places that have been severely damaged by humans.
*Control extreme weather
What the Bible says: “[Jehovah] calms the windstorm; the waves of the sea grow quiet.”—Psalm 107:29📕
What it means for our future: Jehovah has the power to control the elements. People will no longer suffer from extreme weather.
*Teach good stewardship of the earth
What the Bible says: “I will give you insight and instruct you in the way you should go.”—Psalm 32:8📕
What it means for our future: Jehovah gave humans the responsibility to care for the earth. (Genesis 1:28; 2:15) He will teach us how best to fulfill this role as good stewards of his creation, living in harmony with nature.
James 1:13📕When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried, nor does he himself try anyone. 📕14 But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire.
** Biblical Explanation: False religion has “exchanged the truth of God for the lie.” (Romans 1:25) For example, most religions have not taught their followers God’s name. However, the Bible says that God’s name must be used. (Romans 10:13, 14) Some religious leaders say that when something terrible happens, it is God’s will. But that is a lie. God is never the source of evil. (Read James 1:13.) Sadly, religious lies have pushed people away from God.!! God does not cause bad things to happen. Does he, though, incite others to commit vile deeds? Not at all. “When under trial,” state the Scriptures, “let no one say: ‘I am being tried by God".

Did the Bible Predict the Way People Think and Act Today?

Yes, the Bible foretold that people in general would change for the worse during our time. It indicated that this change would lead to a large-scale moral decay and collapse of social values. a (2 Timothy 3:1-5) But the Bible also foretold that some people would not succumb to this breakdown. Rather, with God’s help, they would work to overcome negative influences and to bring their thinking and actions in line with his will.—Isaiah 2:2, 3.

What did the Bible foretell about people’s thinking and actions in our day?
The Bible describes a variety of negative traits and actions that would become commonplace, all rooted in selfishness. People would be “without self-control,” “lovers of themselves,” and “lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God.”—2 Timothy 3:2-4.
True to that prophecy, people in our day are often self-absorbed, focused on self-interest, self-gratification, self-fulfillment, and so forth. These traits are so common that some groups have been called the Me Generation and even the Me Me Me Generation. Many people are so interested in themselves that they are “without love of goodness,” lacking the capacity to love good qualities. Being “unthankful,” they feel no need to show gratitude for what they have or for what others do for them.—2 Timothy 3:2, 3.
*Selfishness is at the root of other attitudes that serve as a sign of our time:
*Greedy. “Lovers of money” are not uncommon—often measuring their success in life by their income or possessions.—2 Timothy 3:2.
*Proud. Many are “boastful, haughty,” and “puffed up with pride.” (2 Timothy 3:2, 4) Such ones brag and exaggerate their abilities, qualities, or wealth.
*Slanderous. “Blasphemers” and “slanderers” are widespread. (2 Timothy 3:2, 3) These expressions can refer to those who insult other people or God or who lie about them.
*Obstinate. Many people are “disloyal,” “not open to any agreement,” “betrayers,” and “headstrong.” (2 Timothy 3:2-4) They show these qualities by refusing to negotiate, to work out solutions, or to honor agreements they have previously made.
*Violent. Many today are “fierce,” readily giving in to anger, which often leads to brutal or savage actions.—2 Timothy 3:3.
*Lawless. Jesus foretold an “increasing of lawlessness” during our time. (Matthew 24:12) He also predicted widespread “disturbances,” or “uprisings.”—Luke 21:9, footnote.
*Lacking family love. Those who are “disobedient to parents” and have “no natural [family] affection” have produced a surge in domestic neglect, abuse, and violence.—2 Timothy 3:2, 3.
*Religiously hypocritical. An increasing number of people have a mere “appearance of godliness.” (2 Timothy 3:5) Rather than submit to God’s will, they follow religious leaders who tell them what they want to hear.—2 Timothy 4:3, 4.
Why would people in general change for the worse?
The Bible explains the underlying reasons for the change in people:
Genuine love of God and neighbor is decreasing. (Matthew 24:12) As it does, selfishness increases.
Satan the Devil has been cast out of heaven and confined to the vicinity of the earth. (Revelation 12:9, 12) Since then, his wicked, selfish influence over the world of mankind has grown.—1 John 5:19.
Would everyone become worse?
No. The Bible foretold that some would be “sighing and groaning over all the detestable things that are being done.” (Ezekiel 9:4) They would reject selfishness and guide their lives by God’s standards. Their speech and actions would be notably different from those of people in general. (Malachi 3:16, 18) For example, they would try to maintain peace with all people and would reject wars and violence.—Micah 4:3.
Will all human society ultimately descend into complete chaos? No. Human society will not break down completely. Instead, God will soon remove the people who are determined to violate his standards. (Psalm 37:38) He will establish “a new earth”—a new human society here on our earth—where meek people will live in peace forever. (2 Peter 3:13; Psalm 37:11, 29) This hope is not a fantasy. Even now, the Bible is helping people to change their lives in harmony with God’s righteous ways.—Ephesians 4:23, 24.
