  1. With all due respect, this tutorial is wrong, mainly as far as the D and the F chord are concerned. If you listen carefully, the fast downpicks are played in the first 3 strings and he just repeats the first string to start his way up. Also, if you watch him play, he alternate picks his way up in every chord, rather than using only upstrokes. In the 83' live though, he plays up-down-down. The downstroke on the B string on the way up is what gives the riff that aggressive character imo.

  2. Thanks Brian!!!! Really interesting and instructive video there – this one video had just given me a lot of things to follow up on, cheers!!!😃😃😃👍👍👍👍👍❤️

  6. This old fuddy duddy needs to hang it up. His days with Queen or anybody else are long gone. This is a fabulous, unforgettable intro for sure. But it ain’t as hard to figure out as he makes it seem. I had a garage band when I was 15 in 1965. I figured it out in 15 minutes and I was nothing on the guitar. Also, I thought Jimmy Page played on all of the sessions of the hits? Where was Jimmy when Hilton played this classic? Jimmy couldn’t have cut it. That’s why he wasn’t on the session.

  7. Rough is a brilliant description of the impact of Hilton's riff.
This song will literally live until the end of time.
It's roughness is what reached into your soul via your ears and gave it it's immortality. You did not just hear this song,……
    You felt it.
Way to go Brian, you nailed the soul of this masterful piece of music.
Rest in peace Hilton, Dave and Chaz.
Your music and talent is forever burned into our collective minds, hearts and souls.

  8. Эту песню я помню я ее слушала только не помню кто иснолняет она мне нравилась я не знаю о чем она

  9. What memories! A friend and I sang it in a junior high talent show, but with acoustic guitars and we won. Not sure if we were that good or just an oddity because we were two girls playing guitars in the 60's! Never was good enough to justify the expense of an electric guitar. Could have used a Harold and Brian May to build me one but unfortunately we were on opposite sides of the pond!

  10. One sound sounds wrong – quite at the end of the opening – but – it's ok. I love house of he rising sun, have come to know it in the seventies, when I was a teenager. Thank you for all that interesting information. I was 3 when it came out.

  11. Fantastic Brian !! i m not sure when the song stands in e major 2 times if Hilton plays the open g string like the other chords, to me it does sound a g sharp keep the normal e major ( not open g )sorry for my english
