I’d love for you to return to the Congress Hotel and ask hotel management in advanced if there are “secret” or hidden rooms because the fact that all of the rooms are shaped differently and the Chicago Outfit used it as a 2nd HQ. I feel like there’s another floor, maybe stairs hidden in a room up there, cubby’s that have been “remodeled” where the mob would store or hide cash, weapons, people..

I lived in Fox Lake, Illlinois until I was 13, and can remember being told that Al Capone used to use the Mineola Hotel there as a weekend retreat. The hotel was built in 1884, and was a beautiful building. I don’t know if it’s still standing, even though it was on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979, and the same family had owned it since 1943. I’m sure there are a few haunted places in Fox Lake. The house I grew up in was built in 1921, and there was always weird stuff happening in it.
Back in the twenties and thirties Kuching meant yes!
Maybe the Congress Hotel housekeeping staff leaves drawers open and chairs overturned? 😋

FORGET ABOUT IT! I grew up in a house built in 1885 and that chain on that should NOT have been moving unless you touched it very recently. Ours never moved unless we actually reached up and grabbed it.
