Clad in protective gear and armed to the teeth, they gathered around a large mirror, its surface gleaming with an ominous sheen.
"We've got one shot at this," Ramirez declared, his voice tinged with determination. "If this works, we'll finally put an end to this nightmare."
With a solemn nod, the team set their plan into motion. They ventured into the heart of the forest, guided by the haunting echoes of SCP-096's distant cries. As they approached its lair, tension hung thick in the air, mingling with the palpable sense of urgency.
With practiced precision, they positioned the mirror in a strategic location, ensuring it would catch SCP-096's attention. Anticipation mounted as they waited, every second feeling like an eternity.
Then, it happened.
A deafening roar shattered the silence as SCP-096 emerged from the shadows, its grotesque form looming over them. With a single glance, its bloodshot eyes fixated on the mirror, reflecting its own visage back at it.
For a moment, time seemed to stand still as SCP-096 stared into the mirror, its expression contorting with rage and confusion. Then, with a primal scream, it lunged forward, claws outstretched, intent on destroying the perceived threat before it.
But it was too late.
The mirror shattered into a thousand fragments, each shard reflecting SCP-096's enraged image back at it. With a final, guttural cry, the creature collapsed to the ground, writhing in agony as its own reflection tore at its flesh.
As the dust settled, Agent Ramirez approached cautiously, his gaze fixed on the fallen beast. With a sense of grim satisfaction, he nodded to his team.
