The bison that have lived in Yellowstone since the last age are well adapted to the harsh winters here. But other animals – such as the elk – struggle to survive in such extreme weather, making them an easy target for wolves looking for dinner.

Taken from Yellowstone.
Yellowstone National Park is one of the world’s last and most spectacular wildernesses. It is also home to some of the richest wildlife beyond the plains of Africa. This landmark series follows the intertwining stories of Yellowstone’s iconic inhabitants: the grey wolf, the grizzly bear and the herds of antelope and buffalo. In a land of beauty and peril, the dramatic lives and fortunes of these animals are inexorably bound together.
Welcome to BBC EARTH! The world is an amazing place full of stories, beauty and natural wonder. Here you’ll find 50 years worth of entertaining and thought-provoking natural history content. Dramatic, rare, and exclusive, nature doesn’t get more exciting than this.

So, hiding a quarry under snow, stone frozen, might not be a good idea to preserve it away from those flying hyenas? It's only for bones by domestic dogs maybe.
Save energy, wolfy!
Sehr schön 🤠
Cold weather and snow will help preserve food well, but it can't keep away predators like crows, eagles or bears. Therefore, wolves need to quickly kill their prey
I come from Vietnam and want videos about the world of all species for a longer period of time
never forget the white greed that almost drove bison to extinction
Struggle for existence
I`ve been to Yellowstone, and seeing the Bison come through must have been the coolest wildlife experience in my life.
Natural selection. Absolutely bad ass.
I very much enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
❤❤❤
BBC Earth has really been upping it's game with these shorts. Thx!!!
I very much enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Shocking that even BBC Earth cant get the dubbed bird calls to match the species- they have used Black-billed Magpie plus American Crow calls at the wolf kill but there are only the magpies and Ravens in the scene. No Raven calls!?
When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives
In winter, food becomes scarce for them.
Yet again, gotta admire those wildlife photographers. Stunning captures.
All animals hate being hungry i mean starving and when they will not find anything to eat they will be angry .
Hmm European carrion crow (Corvus corone) vocalizations starting at 3:07. Either Yellowstone had some vagrant crows from Europe or someone in the BBC’s sound dubbing department got lazy.
Also lots of American crow calls heard and not a single one on sight, I only saw ravens and magpies.
He caught a mean set of big meaty claws to da face doe

The ecological impact wolves had on Yellowstone since they returned is absolutely remarkable. It’s a hugely inspirational story and shows why wolves are so important in our ecosystems.
