  1. Judo, especially old school Judo, is S tier for self defence. Most people trying to hit you aren’t used to defending foot sweeps. And if they grab you, they’re fucked.

  2. S tier = concealed carry. Honestly, the whole argument about which martial arts are top-tier for defending yourself on the street kind of misses a big point. When you're up against criminals or facing more than one attacker, chances are they're packing some kind of weapon. And let's be real, most martial arts moves aren't gonna do much against that (And even if you did train against weapons, why take the risk?). That's why I'm with you on the approach of putting "avoiding a fight at all costs" at the top of the list. There are some wild cards out there, and it's best not to take chances. Self-defense is about staying alive, engaging in a fight doesn't increase that.

  3. Aikido works great during situations where a guy Is trying to intimidate you by grabbing you, or if you have to put a drunk angry friend to bed. I'm good with aikido and used it more than once to control the living shit out of the situation. Unfortunately there's no great fighters that throw it in their arsenal for a quick wrist submission

  4. …….
I have been in many street fights growing up.
    Many!!!
    Not once…
Not once has it been a one on one.
While you’re grappling with someone on the ground, 5 other people come and stomp on your face.
    There are no rules.
People aren’t going to stand to the side and wait their turn.
    Real life isn’t no movie.
That is the harsh reality of a street fight.

    Recommend rethinking your reasoning.

  5. Wrestling for street fights? The ground is asphalt of concrete and you get kicked in the head if you go to the ground. No grappling sport can be used in street fights.
Same thing about BJJ, it does not work in the streets where you almost always have multiple opponents and the ground is hard.

  6. never fear the man that practice 1000 styles . fear the man that practice 1000 kicks.
ive been a from practitioner from 1980. anyone of those arts if well thought would be deadly on the streets.

  7. You know, you really shouldn't talk about things you don't understand and have never really expertienced. It makes the rest of the things you say less trustworthy.

  8. I'm a bit skeptical about this list. Because it depends a lot on how long I practice martial arts and how the training is designed.
BJJ and Thaibox, you progress very quickly in the first year. In judo, it takes 3 years to become dangerous.

I did a modern Japanese Ju-Jitsu style for 15 years. We had all the techniques from kick and Thai boxing, throws from judo and submission techniques on the ground. I think after 2-3 years you can keep up with all martial arts, some even surpass them. Unfortunately, the program is too crowded that a specialization is not possible, so that you are inferior to the specialists after 5-6.

  9. Yeah, jiu jitsu definitely has downgraded. At KINGSMMA we probably learn like 1 takedown every 1-2 weeks in jiu jitsu. Other than that, everything starts from the ground, which dosent make sense because we need to know how to get the person to the ground in order to do the move we are learning from the ground.
