Michael Jai White shared his views on winning street fights. Discussing former Army sniper Nicholas Irving’s advice, he agreed on the standpoint of aiming to walk away as the best initial method to deal with the unpredictable situation. Irving suggested if self-defense becomes necessary, use a protective object like pepper spray and target vulnerable body parts, and to be ruthless. In contrast, White criticized this strategy, pointing out real-life fights are unpredictable and constantly moving, making targeting specific areas difficult. White suggests the mental preparedness to fight back is essential in protecting oneself. He proposed hitting directly to the center of the face, using a palm heel for self-defense, then retreating as fast as possible would be a useful basic technique, and learning how to give a leg kick could also be beneficial.

  1. Pocket Sand.

Nah MJW is right though, you have to be opportunistically changing your step to close in on a guy into a knee to the groin if he starts moving in your same direction and then through practice see that the small space you just knocked him back made a side kick fit nicely and send him to the ground.

Learn how to go for those spots but dont be waiting to access a spot, respond only to the situation you are in, not some script you think is a winner

  2. I agree with the mental part. Being aware & recognizing what it is. No point in trying to negotiate with a person who has already made a decision to harm you.

  3. Yet he has never been in a real street fight or real professional fight 😆

I wish Michael J White would just do movies and shut up when it comes to real fighting. Him and Seagal are brothers, always babling on about fighting yet never had any real experience.

He's a really good actor, I respect him for that but fighting? Nah.

  4. I think that snipers an idiot. And he shouldn't even have children. lol what a moron. And you know to any of you who think you should listen to this guy because he was in the army and was or is a sniper or whatever you're morons too And don't have kids

  5. I liked his advice at the end about a leg kick. I did many ears of kyokushin, most people who are kicked in the leg even if onl 50% power, really struggle with the pain. And it will stop them chasinyou too.

  6. i know how to win street fighter. start running and run good with good cardio. then attackers get tyred of chasing u and might have a heart attack . thats how winning is done .

  7. The martial art which, through centuries, stayed the closest to the traditional field combat is ninjustsu, either bare hands, with a katana and a stick. It's the art of the ninja.

  8. what Sweet Pea say in Baby Boy? lol. aim for the nose…..prefeferebly (prefelly lol) the nose. Beyond that though, MJW is right, get your leg kick game UP. Not only will you frustrate the shit out an unstable in a street fight, but that unstable will likely start thinking better and tap out once you start tenderizing them legs up. Teach them a lesson for the future too, theyll think twice about fighting in public when them stems aint functioning right for days and weeks lol. and if your grappling game is on point thats alway bread and butter. You can restrain, and essentially embarass someone, just by locking them up. Dont have to throw one strike.

  9. A street fight is inherently unfair, more so for the defender because you're the second person in the situation AFTER the attacker to know that you're about to be harmed, so you are behind from the start. So as MJW says, you need to make a quick switch and defend BEFORE the attacker draws first blood, your blood.

  10. So true….I avoided so many altercations because I was neither afraid ..nor hostile….being neutral makes a lot of people pause.

  11. Without good cardiovascular conditioning your punching power and speed, overall speed and strength drop drastically with every punch thrown each take down attempted and defensed….so it's absolutely the first step..who can tell me how long the fight will last? I would like to throw in high intensity high rep weight training to go with Cardio to make your chances even better.❤

  12. Walking away is tough for me because i have a fear of turning my back on people who are being aggressive towards me. I'd try to de-escalate verbally first.

  13. Jai. gave me that look when I saw him at Saks. I wasn’t going to approach Jai anyway. I’m not that dude. I was just passing through scanning the area as I do any store I walk in. I just noticed a familiar face.

  14. How can a man kick a next man in a groin, where's the respect, only women are allowed to do that, no choke outs or low blows, a weapon may be acceptable if your opponent's bigger than you.

  15. MJW spit some real life facts to you all so I hope you listened, two separate fights when I was younger, one in which I dislocated my thumb because my fist wasn’t shut tight when the punch landed and landed weirdly because of coarse the guy moved his head (bent my thumb right the fuck back) and then another fight where I fractured my wrist punching incorrectly with a slight bend when the punch landed, it’s safe to say now I keep my fists tight and throw a lot cleaner then in the past… also as he stated when someone’s moving around and pressing you those groin, throat, and eye shots are easier said then done, most of the things you learn and see in martial arts is in fact bullshit, myself personally I train and compete in judo now and depending on the situation I’d say about 80% of the techniques you learn will not work against someone on the street, but like me and many others we will take that remaining 20% of the techniques that are applicable to a real life situation and apply that to our arsenal.. as far as striking goes if you can’t afford it or don’t have the time to join a local boxing or kickboxing gym, if you have a close friend who wants to learn as well then get yourselves a couple pairs of sparring boxing gloves and headgear, YouTube some tips and tutorials from former professional boxers and slowly work on a few stuff, working out/training to increase your strength and conditioning is also very helpful, I’ve got in a couple fights with heavy smokers before and it’s some real shit that those dudes gas out in about 1-2 minutes, I’ve had one dude in particular literally call it quits in under a minute.
