I Entered A BJJ Tournament To Prove It Doesn't Work
Spread The Viralist

Does Brazilian Jiu Jitsu work in self-defense or street fight? Today I compete in a Jiujitsu tournament to see what happens if you don’t go to the ground. Because that’s the last place you wanna be in real life.

  1. Jiujitsu is grappling and if you start grappling with someone who has no experience in it you lose. Any Jiujitsu guy would not sit back and pull guard in a street/MMA fight you go for takedowns and get close up. Also it’s really funny how him proving his point was doing a match against a white belt lol.

  2. That’s exactly what Royce Gracie complained about… jiu jitsu getting more sport and less self defense, which was it’s original purpose

  3. Grapling as a form of "self DEFENCE" can be only applied if opponent is ATTACKING you. I don't thing it needs more explanation

  4. There is nothing lamer than a bjj guy starting the fight laying down like the Gracie’s did when they were afraid of Sakuraba

  5. Its kinda crazy to me that every martial art is confronted with the question "does it work?" without often implying for what. I like the wording we do in germany, we clearly distinct between Fight Art and Fight Sport if you were to translate it word by word. Its totally fine to just do it for fun, for sport or because it looks cool.

  6. So the beginning with him training with the upper belts didn’t show him anything? 😂 great video though us bjj guys are all just butt scooters

  7. Want to know have BJJ practitioner tried doing their BJJ on some asphalt or random street, and not on a mat?
Like you can try to go down on your back, but suddenly your back hit a sharp rock or something.
Or you're walking in SF and got into a street fight, then you realize there are a lot of needles on the ground.
Or you try to grab their bodies trying to do what you did in a tournament, and the opponent just smash your head to the asphalt.

  8. sure bjj wont work againsta knife or gun but if u start a fist fight with someone who practices bjj you will lose or will be forced to keep your distance
